Don't even need an ex-player. Just need to make the rules clear

and competent people to use the technology.

It needs to be stopped immediately while people and/or officials are retrained and organised using it.

They'd have to admit getting it wrong but they would get an almighty load of praise from the public. Have a break for the rest of the season and then bring it back next August with it being properly utilised. Then if there are the same problems next season, bin it for good.

Too much common sense there though so it wont happen.

But we're still have to sit on our hands when goal is scored...

Agree

Unfortunately whilst they won’t admit it, some teams get fucked and others have had 6 penalties before Christmas

that pen isnt about rules. theyve been duped by the wolves player. never a pen. could defo do with an ex player in there to help them because they are embarrassing themselves on these so called 'subjective' decisions.

you know when youve been fouled or not playing football, these nerds have never kicked a competitive ball before. get 5 or 3 ex pros in and do a majority vote on challenges. get the champions league offside system in the prem (should of been in there already as its the best by far and saves a serious amount of time).

these idiots didnt allow a goal when the ball clearly went over the line because their little goalline system failed....i mean how fucking stupid can you get!

I don't get why an ex player would be anymore likely to be a good ref than they are a good coach.

Loads of ex players can't coach to save their lives. Same would be true about them as officials.

because they would have a better understanding of what is and what isnt a foul. these incompetent twerps are getting far too many wrong.

the top games are played at a speed that these fools have never experienced, ex pros would get far more fouls called correctly than what is currently being done.

"refs announcing the final decision after a VAR review is likely to enter the Laws of the game."

Been happening all along.

Unless they mean every decision gets sent to the monitor..... In which case; fuck that shit.
I assume they mean like in the Womens World Cup.
Where referee said for example "No Goal, Offside" or "Foul, Penalty Kick" to all in stadium after VAR review.
Added nothing.

There will be a few given and a few not given due to pros using their common sense and everyone will be shouting for consistency.

Just get rid.
they wont get rid. its here to stay it just needs to be improved and have competent people calling the decisions.

in the newcastle game it was much better than it is in the league. better offside tech, they checked for a penalty and actually stopped play when the ball was around the halfway line instead of waiting for it to go dead, took 5 seconds to make a decision and carried on. soo much better in the champions league.

you wouldnt get him but if you had someone who knows football like souness in VAR looking at the challenges then they would get 95% plus correct in no time at all. hed actually be able to explain why he gave what he did in the big moments too after.
