Morning after the night before. I think the lads did well. As soon as our creativity was gone I thought we had to put in a scrappy performance and hope to win by the odd goal with a clean sheet similar to Frankfurt and Bodo away.
As it got closer and the weed kicked in I hoped we could keep possession on the counter and dominate them more. But asking them to break us down did the job and got us over the line so no complaints.
Perhaps we could have won it differently with even one of our three midfielders available or someone else in attacking midfield. I don't really care.
The most important thing is we got the defensive aspect of the team right enough and the limited subs we had were sensible and we had no injuries to our back 7.
That game could have easily gone wrong with any defensive error, penalty, or red card, and it is why VdV was my MOTM. It also could have gone wrong if we tried to fit Son in starting for sentimental reasons, and so many other variables that we avoided.
We knew how tight these European finals were going into them beforehand.

The love was what got us over the line. I think all the suffering has bonded the team, making them closer than even the Poch era. Would be amazing if we could build strong attractive football out of that foundation. To not give Ange at least a chance at that would be ridiculous.
