Tactics Werner or Son?

Werner, no doubt at all.
Neither. I’d play madders there. He’d be creative and every pass wouldn’t be negative and doesn’t min taking a hit.
If I had no choice other than Sonny or Werner I’d always pick Sonny. Werner will never get my support after Ibrox. Never seen such a soft performance. I don’t mind mistakes but the lack of effort was a disgrace from him that night. Unforgivable.

Werner because he can still run the full backs and put a cross in sometimes. I love what Son has been for us but we need wingers who hold the width, control the ball, press hard. Werner is poor but sort of of that profile, Odoburt is the only one really like that.
Ange’s system is heavily dependent on having proper wingers. Son and Johnson are good goal scorers but not good wingers, they are more like wide forwards. Having Son and Johnson on the pitch is like starting each game 1-0 up but being down to 9 or 10 men.
What having suitable wingers in this system means:
1 ball rentention. Enable us to retain the ball and link and build around the opposition thus create chance but also prevent counters.
2 press. Enable us to prevent counters and generally protect our backline
3 create space. Beating full backs, holding width creates opportunity for Solanke, Maddison, Kulusevski to score goals.
Son doesn’t fit this system. His legs like Vertoghen are going but he is still a brilliant finisher. For Son to be useful we need a 352 where he can play off of Solanke and only has to worry about scoring goals.
I get why fans want Ange out but seriously look at how we play. We need good wingers to make our attack and defence work properly and we don’t have them. Like Conte when he had wing backs of Royal and Regulion. If you have a manager with a system (most managers these days are system managers) you need players with attributes that fit it.
So Son is both declining and also playing in a system that doesn’t suit his strengths. Werner is playing in a system that is slightly closer but he is poor. So Werner but only just. Our front line is killing us, it is limiting our scoring while exposing us to counters.
Honestly a front line of just Neto Solanke Odoburt would I think dramatically change how we play. We need Odoburt back but more importantly we need to buy a senior winger like Neto.

Without weeing in your pocket, I do notice your posts are well thought out and deeper than most on here.
But, the problem is not our front line. We have scored the second highest goals this year behind Liverpool and the issues we have are not upfront, with the possible exception of RW. Our issues are in defence and depth in particular.
Option c, neither ideally. I think you'd have to say Werner is having more of an impact when he comes on, at the moment.
Having 2nd amount of goals in league is useless, when we had 4 games without goals, and 4 games where we had just 1 goal. Basically almost every 2nd game in the league we are unable to score more than 1 goal - which given our inability of keeping clean sheets is a killer for us.
Defence cost us points maybe against Pool and Chelsea, but we lost with Bmouth, CP or Forest mainly because of toothless attack, and front 3 is big part of that. Given Deki plays mostly as MF, we basically have no wings to create or just holding the ball.
Sonny in 2024 is a poor winger, and he's never been great out wide. But Werner is just too awful. Other than running fast with the ball and blasting the ball across he's basically useless. All he guarantees is missed sitters.

In the brief flashes of Odobert my concern is that he doesn't have that explosive physicality to create separation and keep it.
Werner is rapid and can knock it and run. Look at what he did to Walker.
Odobert is way more talented but I seem to remember he would do a nice move but wasn't really leaving defenders for dead because he's not that quick, they tended to stick with him.
I'd give Werner a start over Son simply because Son is shot to bits and if we rest him, he might pick up the performance levels for the Liverpool game.
Both are in woeful form but Son is still twice the player Werner is. I'd have any version Moore, Richarlison or Odobert ahead of both of them if they were fit. Its a shame that Werner is actually our only available option. Basically Son is totally out of form but the only fella we can rotate him with is offering nothing.
Love Son, but it’s a bit firing squad or electric chair on current form
A care home version of Son is better than Tino "make a wish" Werner.
Werner to start, he will run their legs off. Then Son on at 65 to finish.
