Club What does Luton Town mean to you (if anything)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

In 1974 I went with a group of mates to see Luton Town vs Spurs. For some strange reason we went in the 'Home' end of the ground with another big group of Yids. It all kicked-off of course (with yours truly cowering at the back - well I was only 16) and the police piled in and dragged us all out. We were frog marched one by one down the side of the pitch and put into the large open terrace at the other end. As I was escorted by two burly coppers I heard a shout of 'Mike' from the seated area to the side and spotted my dad in the crowd laughing his head off. Unfortunately he was with a client! Anyway, then the game kicked off and I seem to remember it was John Duncan's first game, Cyril Knowles played a blinder and we drew 2-2* (*actually 1-1 just looked it up)

Update to my 'What does Luton Town mean to you?'...

Luton Town - yet another team to be crushed to powder (at least twice) next season under the remorseless footballing juggernaut known to all as The Mighty Spurs.

At least 5-0 each game.

I have never been to Luton. Without fail, every single person who has says it's a shithole.

So when I think Luton, I think shithole. Perhaps unfairly (but probably not).

And Pleat of course.
You must go there one day. It's really very nice to have a day out at the Arndale Centre, now imaginatively reinvented as The Mall.

My first live football match was at Luton, with my Luton supporting uncle.

It was the Simod Cup semi-final against Swindon, and the atmosphere in Kenilworth Road was something else. By that, I mean it convinced me that I was right to choose Spurs and haven't returned to Luton's ground since that evening in 1988.

Nah, it's definitely a shithole. On the positive side, Luton and Dunstable hospital is significantly better than Watford General so if you're going to get stabbed in Herts/Beds - Luton is the better choice.
