I don´t think we have much chance of finishing fourth because we will run up a few injuries during the course of the season and suffer from burnout at some point if we progress in the EL, I still think the top 4 will remain the same this year because Chelsea are easily 15 points better over the remaining fixtues than the other non CL teams .
 
I hate Chelski more than anyone but to dismiss them for a CL place now is ridiculous. They have some major issues at the moment but they still have a huge squad of talented players and plenty of time yet to sort it out, not to mention Roman can throw millions more at the problem in January . I would LOVE to be proven wrong but I would still be shocked if they finished outside the top 4.

I am not a Sherwood fan but I do have some sympathy for him and he has done good for us as a youth team coach

Try not to see things so black and white and not be so selective in what I say

For example I did say that TS can be an arrogant cunt sometimes, that he needs to show more humility and that he needs to learn his trade in a lower division.

How is that construed as putting him before Tottenham or getting myself in a massive hole?

It's not a case of getting on. You've been knocking Poch from the start and l haven't mentioned it until recently. It was only when you said that you thought we could get top 4 four with him that l had a double take. You must admit that it's a strange thing to say for someone who doesn't rate him as a manager. I don't have a problem with you Baz - only this contradictory statement.

I don't think it's a general consensus on here that Poch isn't the right manager for us. Generally I feel the mood about him is positive, and in the very least, most people are sick of the merry go round. Sherwood wasn't good enough for us and just got fired from Villa.

As for us finishing top 4? Maybe. But it's far too fucking soon to tell and I really don't believe in moving bars. We should be looking to finish around about 5th. If we finish 6th or 7th it's not a disaster, and if we finish 4th it's a stroke of good fortune that we are probably due.

That's just my opinion though. :pochbye:
 
I'm in the camp that believes its not a good idea to jinx things, so I'm saying nothing for now, I shall wait until the points are won, and enjoy the good bits and quickly get over the bad.

I also don't want to get too optimistic because I've been burned so many times before, but I just have this sneaky feeling that if for some reason we fall out of Europe early and get knocked out of the FA cup 3rd round, we have a squad capable of churning out solid performances week after week in the league. The momentum will build and the hype/excitement/spirit amongst the team and fans may drive us to somewhere we wouldn't reach otherwise like our 09/10 season (although we did reach FA semis that year) or Liverpoo 2 seasons ago. I think having just 1 competition to focus on would be a massive advantage.

Having said that, I'd much rather we win the Europa League but atm that's probably a tougher prospect than coming 4th if we're being honest.

Also Liverpoo are more likely to get knocked out of the group stages than we are negating everything I've said above :pochsulk:
 
I remember as a kid putting out all our fixtures and trying to predict what we would get each game but I was about 13 at the time.
Theres no point in getting that far ahead of ourselves at all however I do think Utd Liverpool and Chelsea (currently!) are shit.
IF we can stay unbeaten through the next four prem games I will start really thinking we can get to fourth but its a massive ask.
We need key players to stay fit all season, another very decent striker in january to hit the ground running and a lot of other things to go our way.

The biggest thing we have going for us though that some of the other teams dont have is serious team spirit and commitment. We can beat anyone on our day with a full team so lets just take a game at a time and see where we're at in feb when the dust settles.
Only game we should be talking about now is Villa.
 
Apologies for being so blunt, but anybody calling for Poch's head is an absolute moron. Dont treat the club like your own bloody soap opera, you want unnecessary drama go watch Eastenders. He has been doing a great job, long may it continue.

Nor I you Joe as I think you are a top poster and one of those on here like BoltonSpur, Jockmur etc who I would happily go for a pint or three with!

That post you are referring was meant more as a comment on the current state of the PL which I think is wide open and we can take advantage and could well finish top four

But seriously, this season will see us get into the top4, we are already very hard to beat plus we have been doing pretty well during the infamous 2015 Kane drought. Could do with a striker (captain obvious) in january as i dont think Clinton will ever be a top level striker (at least not in the one man fwd setups)

I'd just draw the conclusion that Danny isn't a great defender. I'm not saying he's a bad player. I just fear for our defense whenever he plays. He has a lot of heart and commitment, but lacks a footballing brain it seems.

You can conclude what you wish though. If I was Gibbs I would sprout on about how he isn't a beast and how we need to sign George Elokobi however.
