Makes a refreshing change to be honest. Mooted transfers seem to last for weeks these days until completion. I remember in the 80’s and 90’s quite often not knowing about who we were linked with until reading about the actual signing in the morning papers. Might be wrong as it was a long time ago but I seem to remember knowing nothing of our interest in Gascoigne or Ginola until being pleasantly surprised to learn of their signings in the morning rag. Let’s just hope he is as good as them 🤪
I bet Conor Gallagher is thinking...that's the way to do it?

This guys the real deal - no doubt about it. Has pace to burn, can dribble and has a finish and a pass on him as well. If you look at his Prem games for Burnley last year, you see how he stands out as a unique talent.

PS: I hadn't heard of him until today.

What are the rough edges in your opinion, from the brief bits you saw?

Not a snide comment btw but I just listened to Harry Brooks talking about him on the Lab thing with Flav and he was talking about the things he needs to improve but other than that I've not really seen anyone say anything tangible to say he needs in his game technically and pretty much everyone seems to say his decision making is already well ahead at 19.
Here's the Twitter thread.

Only aged 19 but :
- 2022/23 - 32 appearances (including 19 starts) and 4 goals with Troyes in French top league
- 2023/24 - 29 appearances (including 25 starts) totalling 2,108 mins and 5 goals with Burnley in PL plus 4 domestic cup appearances including 58 mins v Spurs

This is a player who may not be an automatic starter for us - but equally, based on his playing experience in 2 top leagues at age 19 is certainly not a development project for us : he's worth a place on our bench right now as a player of some experience with something to contribute

And from the various analyses already published on TFC and elsewhere, his potential upside is very very high and might well propel him into the category of 'top class even world class' player.

He seems to be able to play as either a right or left winger and has been seen moving into a no 10/cam type role. At 6 foot he's not a small guy either yet with very quick feet, fast, loves dribbling, very good technically and hard working. So a lot for Ange's coaching team to work with : there will be areas to be improved upon, for example I'd guess his finishing - but for a 19 year old he ticks lots of boxes and you'd hope coaching team can help him improve over the next year or two.

Obviously need to see more of him, but atm it looks a top piece of scouting.

And the surprise at his announcement takes me back to about 2010 when half an hour before the close of the window, media announced there was a rumour was that Spurs were signing Van der Vaart but nothing more ... and at midnight the media consensus was there was nothing to the rumou ..... only next day was it announced Van de r Vaart had signed. Or maybe the 70's when with no prior inkling ..... newspaper headlines announced we'd signed Ardiles and Villa. Of course Odobert is nothing like as well known or as good a player (yet) as those players ...... but the surprise of his signing is right up there. Well done to Spurs to hiding the news when the media seems to know about all transfers weeks in advance !
