Thought the same lol
I'm looking on at home thinking WTF!
He's just trolling. He knows, or should know, that the U.S. is completely unbalanced between the haves and the have nots.
Das VaterlandI gotta watch USA v Germany
I know der Vaterland isnโt what it was but they should comfortably put merika to bed

Yes, thatโs trueโGerman articles are confusing.Iโd have thought Der as isnโt Der masculine as in Vater ?
I just googled it and it is neutral indeed but strangely some countries are masculine
- der Iran
- der Irak
- der Jemen
- der Libanon
- der Sudan
- der Tschad
- der Niger
- der Kongo (usually referring to the Republic of the Congo)
- der Vatikan (Vatikanstaat)
And some feminine
- die Schweiz (Switzerland)
- die Tรผrkei (Turkey)
- die Ukraine
- die Slowakei
- die Mongolei
- die Tschechische Republik (Czech Republic โ feminine because Republik)
- die Bundesrepublik Deutschland (formal/legal style; rarely used in everyday speech)
Very interesting
not for friendlies but I'd back it for the world cup matches otherwise you end up with some posting in WC thread, some in other matches thread and some in England threadAre we gonna do match threads for the England games?
A lot of "shy" English fans on TFC.
Yes, thatโs trueโGerman articles are confusing.
*Der Vater* (the father)
*Das Land* (the country)
*Das Vaterland* (the fatherland)
Most countries donโt have articles at allโFrance or Poland, for example.
Everyone learning German struggles the most with articles. Even many native speakers make mistakes with them. There are hardly any universal rules to follow
