Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I would imagine playing him at wing takes some pressure off him. As the season progresses, I would not be surprised to see him assume the #10 rule. Like a lot of talented players, he can be relatively unimpressive and then make a shot or take a pass that makes you take notice. Not a bad start.

I'm actually glad he didn't start CAM today- with how physical it usually is vs spam he easily could have gotten beaten up pretty badly. Had a nice soft matchup vs KWP out left instead and remains healthy.

Thought he looked decent given the lack of connection with the team and the big stage for his debut. Made some nice passes, created a few chances and looked like he wanted the ball and to make an impact! He will be huge for us

you can see he’s a quality player. Looks so comfortable with the ball with great balance & low centre of gravity. He’ll be an exciting player for us

Brilliant assist. Can see he needs a bit of match time for more understanding of how players react around him in game. I didn't feel like he's a natural on the left he wants to be inside pulling the strings and that showed but first impressions is in time he'll be very good.

Probably needs a couple more weeks to get really used to his new team, surroundings, the league etc., but once he really gets going he will be among our top 3 best performers. And certainly a player that adds something unique to the team.

The delivery on that corner was utter class, something that is not often as appreciated as it should be but the bend on the ball to land it utterly perfectly on the head of the least marked (and not the tallest either!) player in Sarr showed vision we have sorely lacked from dead ball scenarios since Bale left IMO.
Gutted I stupidly agreed to work last night despite being down for a 3.30pm finish, have worked through all of our games so far this season, will be glad to get to watch Simons closely in midweek.
