Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He clearly feels uncomfortable playing as a winger. He has a very clear tendency to drift inside and deeper.

In addition, this kind of player becomes a real play maker after developing chemistry with his teammates. The creative passes and runs come after having an understanding with his teammates.

If you want a player that will just take the ball and dribble up the pitch, that’s not a creative 10. That’s a physical player. He becomes easy to defend. Harder to defend against creative players.

It’s a matter of taste. I prefer technical players that are magicians on the pitch with passes and runs. Xavi will get there after developing chemistry with his teammates.

Sign a proper LW who can take on a man AND score and assist.

Good luck signing one in October

Wow, I am really puzzled about so many people.

Guy has been here 30 days. In which there was an international break too.
He has to play out of his usual position. In the team that is just finding it's balance (and has been playing way too conservatively - with 4-3-3 with 2 defensive-minded-CMs) and is missing MANY key players in attacking areas. Prime Solanke and in form Kulusevski would help Xavi A LOT you know.

But I see people saying with full certainty how XX is surely better and how Xavi was YYth choice and so one.
Fucksake, get some perspective. Let's give him time. Let's maybe wait with conclusive evaluations? No?

Probably still living out of hotels ffs.

This is just getting weird now.

People are on a Xavi Simons agenda already after 1 bad game in 3 appearances….

Go ahead, knock yourselves out and have a moan because he’s not MGW, a fringe England player who is playing worse for Forest every week than Xavi did against Wolves.
Agreed. Why, when Spurs are very short of creativity, are people already having a go at one of the very few players who is providing it? Simons will be fine once he gets familiar with his team mates. He may have forced a few passes but at least he keeps looking for opportunities. In a perfect world Maddison wouldn't have gotten injured and they could of worked Simons into the lineup, but we are where we are. I think he'll just keep getting better as the season progresses.

I wonder if he's worth another try in January?
I would recall a loan player like Devine...

Would rather not get another 10 or that creative type of player as it means, maddison, Xavi, and new guy fighting for a place.
So bring a youngster back, se how he fairs, then decide what we actually need in Summer window.

A LW, LB, and shifting a few would be good in January and make some space for the youngsters to file in January.

He has a loan option, so can't be recalled

He had his chance and didn’t take it.

We have a better player now
I don't know if I blame him. I find it hard to believe that he just did a 180 like that. I imagine it was more along the lines of him being pressured into refusing the move or else. Probably the threat of legal action against him/his agent for leaking the release clause. And to sweeten the deal he was offered a contract with improved terms.

But yep, we've got a better, younger player with a higher ceiling. It'd also be absolutely pointless going in for him when we've got Bergvall at the club who looks like he might turn out to be elite. Plus Maddison to come back next year.

I don’t know how it shook out but by all reports it did happen. He had a chance, we wanted to sign him, he signed an extension. End of the day that was his choice and he needs to own it.
