Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We’ve had so many players that have played for us and in the first season we write them off and then they end up being huge successes . Let’s see , he’s still a kid but at £50m we have a right to expect more but im certainly not going to say he’s the next Bryan Gil yet .

Is he really still a kid? He’s 22.
A year younger than Cole palmer and Morgan rogers. How did they do last season.

2 years older than Tel and Odobert.
3 years older than Bergvall and Gray.

I think he’s mainly going to be shocked at the pace and physicality of the league tbh. Hopefully he can adjust. Not all players manage to.

The trouble is we've had a lot more who are the opposite.

For me the big issue is that we have all our hopes pinned on him as we have not sufficiently bolstered the team. Without him we're essentially the same team that finished 17th

Nah

We have much better manager, we won't lose anywhere near the amount of matches we did last season
We have arguably our best player Palhinha that we didn't have last year
We have a shitload of players that will be returning from injury in the not too distant future.

Xavi has been disappointing so far, actually that is understatement, but we are third in league even with in effect carrying him, and our injury problems.

Eze has had his whole career in PL is 5-6 years older and has been shit for Woolwich. Scuffed effort last week aside.
Difference is hes English, woolwich better players to play in his position and around him so its not noticed, and plays for woolwich. All which means less criticism from media.
The fact that their bell end supporters dont shit on him but ours do on a 22 yo new to the country and league is worrying

This isn't true at all and is anti scum bias. Eze has been very good for them, and is ten times the player Xavi is right now unfortunately for us.

Eze has actually been pretty good for them and there's the promise he will definitely get better as time goes on, I'm not sure where you're getting that he's been shit? so why would their be criticism from the media?

Simons isn't getting pelters because he's not English, he's getting them because he's not been good and looks far off the level.

Eze isn't some 8/10 every week player.... Never has been. Was never gonna be a miracle-cure player for us and the fact he's not thrived in a very settled AFC only underlines this.

....BUT come the end of the season he'll have proved a net positive.

Let's hope Simons can say the same.

Kudus is great but with no Kulusevski it hasn't raised the overall level of the squad until his return.

Recruitment has been shite and we are once again over playing players and building up a huge injury list.

Kulu and Kudus are both a non factor on the left.

Kulus return will only improve rotation; not the best XI.

I don't know if it's purely down to him or because we didn't have the Bentancur and Palhinha double pivot but he was actually more involved on the ball in an attacking sense yesterday.
As opposed to last week against Villa where he basically played DM and put more tackles in than passes.

He's massively short of confidence in front of goal. Passed up another shooting opportunity. But almost trying too hard in other ways to play people in. Needs to simplify the game and just play the ball quicker going for the easy pass. I'd have liked to seen Luca Williams-Barnett on the bench yesterday.

Same as son, came from Germany off the back of 11 goals 3 assists. Xavi comes off the back of 10 goals 7 assists. Son Only managed 4 goals all season when he moved here at similar age.

It's a dice role, hopefully it pays off in the same way as son, and not in a timo werner
