Player Xavi Simons

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

This is nothing to do with Bundesliga.

Xavi Simmons is a La Masia product and been part of PSG set up as well

Bloke is just not good enough at any level. Sure, he might have good moments, But his first touch is erratic and is gettign exposed in PL

Giovani Dos Santos was a La Masia product, it means nothing. Not every player that comes out of there makes it. Messi and co skewed the perception of any player making the grade there.

Xavi was a major factor in that loss today.
Mickey passes to Xavi out of the goal area and Xavi has a whole empty space behind him, all he has to do is turn in his heels and take the ball up the field and start a positive attack on goal. But what does he do, he just punts it straight back to Mickey who is in a dangerous situation. Mickey loses it and they score.
Xavi seemed to not want the ball even though he had a clear space to move the ball away from the danger area and up the field, turning defence into attack.

His pricetag will have people calling for his head but I feel for SImons tbh. He doesn't know where he's supposed to be, or what he's supposed to be doing. Multiple times he and another player (often Spence) end up standing on each others toes in exactly the same space.

Also the team as a whole has a dreadful habit of not moving to give angles for a pass. It's absolute hell for anyone who would even think of trying to pass effectively. This is coaching of course and hopefully will come but as usual we pissed an entire summer away before getting players in to train together and learn together.

It was an atrocious performance lol. Partially responsible for the goal but he's eased off the ball like a kid, hasn't much acceleration and his first touch and passing were pretty awful.

He definitely needs to work on his upper body strength which would in turn give him more confidence to do his thing.

He's just too weak at the moment.

But all this can change. Way too early to write him off.

Bundesliga and Eredivisie almost feel like volleyball compared to EPL in terms of how little direct contact they involve, hence his bewilderment and overt misery whenever somebody comes from the blind side to dispossess him.

His confidence is shot at the moment, as he's constantly second guessing himself in anticipation of one of those aforementioned challenges by opponents.

Fixable stuff obviously, but can't blame people for already losing patience knowing our history with big signings like this.

Can’t play Prem football, it’s as simple as that. He is weak as piss, has the acceleration of an elderly tortoise with an ingrowing toe nail and has all the resilience of a wet fart.

We need to stop playing him and hope some stupid team need a name in Jan and flog him.

We need to learn the lesson of by Prem proven also

The amount of times I see the players pointing to each other about where they should be! Quite concerning

When he came on he was blanking what Frank was saying to him.
Before the second half during the "huddle" the camera panned in on him and again he was completely blanking what was going on or being said.
His weak pass led to their goal and he made so many other pathetic passes during the game.
The usual dozen tries to beg a foul.

Just reading back over the first few pages of this thread. Oh my. Practically nobody had heard of him when we signed him. We all went away furiously scrambled around, did some homework and were satisfied that we had a bona fide baller superstar on our hands. Tim Sherwood was about the only voice of caution out there that he might not be any good. Tiger Tim was widely lambasted for expressing such views.

I thought he was injured and was limping beforehand, hence cycling it back but I don’t think so as he carried on after. Shocking play

So what the fuck was a all the fuss about getting him here then?
What's the point of having ANY decent player for someone else, when they stink the place out the second they sign for us?

He needs time, but only for US, and that's why we're notoriously bad at giving players...

But you can bet one thing...
He'd have been MOTM and scored the winner for Chelsea had he signed for THEM!

This is US.... it's OUR FUCKING CURSE!
You sign for Spurs, you get told winning sure is nice, but losing ain't the end of the world either, #wegoagain and all that.

You sign for Woolwich/Chelsea/Liverpool/City, you get told winning is everything, losing is unacceptable.
