Weird take. Have you ever played the game ?
Why the fuck would we put Johnson's personal glory over the team result?

What would a hattrick have done for him? Cover how shit he's been all season? See him cone out flying against Hamburg, taking on players, tracking back, making dangerous passes?

No.

It'd be the same old Johnson, just with one extra goal. Pointless.

The weird take is those up in arms over Tel taking it.

It's actually very sad how poor a player he is these days. Like, really really bad. Can't just be Father Time when you see players his age/older still bossing it elsewhere.

I don't understand why it takes him so long to get a shot off now. Like he's playing in slow motion. It was the one thing he was always great at, and without that, he's pony.

He's only ever been very good at a couple of things, shooting off both feet mainly, and finishing. And now that's gone, he's just crap.

If we had shit players I would say we deserve to be where we are. But we dont. This team can fight for top 4 with right coach. Need to get rid of slackers in summer.
Top 4 is a stretch. Current squad should be somewhere between 5th-8th though.

Add a top starting winger to replace either # Son or BJ plus a proper 6 and we could challenge for top 4 (assuming our CBs stop having cheesestrings for hamstrings).

Exactly. How that can even be argued is ridiculous.
He's an arrogant overpriced selfish pri
This is tinfoil hat territory for a penalty 6 minutes deep in stoppage.

Johnson has converted 11/15 penalties in his career.

Tel has bagged 6/6, but until today had never taken a penalty in a competitive senior football match (all U-level internationals and 1 friendly)

Personally I've always thought that it should be a rule that the player earning the penalty takes the penalty, same as free throws in basketball. Irrational that you get a penalty for denying Ben Davies a goal scoring opportunity and then have to face a Harry Kane 1v1 from the spot.

And it would clear up all this bollocks over who should take the penalty. Unless a player is injured, and then he has to go off, the penalty is awarded to the player who was fouled (or played the ball that was handled) - not generically to the team.
This was a situation where ange should have stepped in and told Tel to allow Johnson a possible hatrick..
