The Hoddle era.
Running to the newsagent on Saturday after FT to get the Evening News for a match report.
The reception after the 81 final. Never saw so many people. The atmosphere of pride.
The Poch era where we were the best team in the land.

2005-06 season under Jol

2009-10 season under Redknapp

Loved both those campaigns for similar reasons; Not much was really expected of us going into it, we played excellent football in both and they were genuinely seasons that pushed the club forward

For two seasons and it wasn’t even close but sadly no trophies for that!

Started proper following in the mid 90s so the Worthingtons Cup against Leicester was an early highlight, Ginola the first star but like others have said already, the Jol period was such good time and I still think the basis of what we've seen since that Harry & Poch built on. I remember believing that

As good and as effective we could be under Poch, I think the football under Harry is still the most fun I've had watching us play.

I'm 43 so I missed the mid to late 80s my Dad witnessed but was a young Spurs fan then. He was lucky enough to be going to loads of games from mid 60's as well til then but my fav time was back living in London and going regularly with Jol and Redknapp in charge. Went a bit less when Poch took over as I had moved home but loved that whole era.

That first CL campaign I went to every home game and will never forget Inter - think thats the best atmosphere I have ever witnessed at the lane.
Poch made me believe properly again and was the best we have been in the league for decades too so Poch would go under fav manager in my match going lifetime.

Great thread Eli , thanks for starting it.

Agree. Certainly of seasons in the last 30 years or so these are up there, particulaly the 09/10 season. At times that year we were superb and it was just fun to watch.

My pleasure dear , I like reading about Tottenham of ….now old surrounded by Liverpool fans mostly at the time I started getting into football 1981 . That far back is a blur but the period I quoted 93-95 sticks in my mind and throughly enjoyed it.

Redknapp era.

We got into the champions league and were actually able to go into North London Derbies thinking we had a chance to win.

The Poch era annoys me because we didn’t win anything. Redknapp era had no expectations and is more memorable looking back.

I’m 29 and has to be the Redknapp era for me, I’ll never forget the 3-1 vs inter, sitting right by the pitch watching Bale skin Maicon. White hart lane was so loud that night.

I started supporting Spurs after the 81 cup final, but one of my favourite times was when Gazza and Lineker were there, 90/91 season.

Gazza was absolutely amazing, there were so many times when he would just start running the show, he would take the game by the scruff of the neck, taking players on at will, staying on his feet when he got fouled because he had so much strength. I loved the fact that he was just given a free role to go wherever he wanted.

That FA Cup goal against Woolwich in the semi’s and then us going on to beat Forest in the final even without Gazza and being a goal down. We certainly had a better mentality then. They were the best times for me.

But, I also enjoyed getting to the Champions League with Redknapp, seeing the development of Bale, those matches against Inter.

Also the good times under Poch, seeing us press teams all over the pitch, and scoring, what seemed like, so many late goals during his time because we just never gave up.

There have been some good times, good times that deserved more cups.

Hopefully, I will come back to this thread in 10 years time and add Ange’s name to that list.

Redknapp era we were daring to do things we hadn't done in ages, watching some great young footballers arrive, and just enjoying it.

Poch era was the beginning of expectations/entitlement. Coming 2nd in the league wasn't good enough. CL finalists wasn't good enough. Etc.

I miss just enjoying football.

In Sweden in the 80s it wasn't easy to get to watch spurs. In state telvision we had one game a week. They mostly showed Liverpool and United but every now and then they showed Spurs. I loved to Watch Hoddle, Gazza and Waddle.

I loved the mid 80s to early 90s because of the players.

After streaming was possible I started to watch every game. Both paid and ugly streams. But I think my favourite period was under Poch. To watch the breakthrough of Dele, the might of Dembele, Kane, Toby and Jan. Eriksen. Rose and Walker. The seasons we almost won, the Champions League run and Lucas goals vs Ajax.
