Sarr and Maddison can't play against Liverpool. Ange clearly prioritized the league cup game by giving Bergvall some extra rest. And tbh we didn't get worse when Maddison and Son came on. He wasn't yanked but its a good this g he played well enough to play 90mins. Ange called his performance out for praise in the press conference.
And so does Bissouma, because until we buy the mythical upgrade, he’s by a mile the best option we have for the 6.
It’s Sarr and Kulusevski who need kicking out of this midfield.(although Sarr may have uses against Liverpool)

They sat in because we controlled the game, Biss and Mad came on at that point and showed for the ball, used it well and controlled possession in a way that Berg and especially Sarr didn't.
He was under enormous pressure today, yet dealt with it really well. Very pleasantly surprised with him I must say.
On occasions he was given the ball in tight spots when we were playing out from the back, yet he almost always managed to find and execute a difficult pass that broke their initial press. I can't envision someone like Sarr (to give an example) doing what he did.
While defending, he was asked to shoulder a huge burden as the single pivot after Bentancur went off. Yet I thought he did a good job there as well, even though he was often isolated in transition due to how often Bergvall pushed forward.
A good DM covers so many of a team’s weaknesses, we really need to bring one in sooner than later.
