Player Heung-Min Son (손흥민)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The idea that he won't have been well trained and in shape before heading off to an Olympic tournament that has a major impact on his professional career is pretty funny. Like he just walked up off his couch and said, "Alright, let's go to fucking Rio! Where's the cheeseburgers?"

Sometimes I wonder if people even logically consider what they're saying before they post. He's a professional athlete, doubt he showed up to a tournament a fat mess. Especially when failing at that tournament has the potential to cost him millions of dollars.

He doesn't behave like a professional athlete though. This much is well documented, and it's the reason he won't succeed at Spurs. Why do you think you're correct when others nearer to the player think otherwise? He has a self-confessed junk food habit, and a reputation for laziness. A Mitchell signing - not a Poch one. And if you watch him play, you can see he is useless..

I don't normally go in for the 'I told you so' stuff, but every player I've criticised ( and it's not that many) Poch has sold. It's not that difficult to see the weak links.

We shall see, personally I expect more out of Son this season but it's entirely possible you're correct and he fades away and gets sold. But I think some people get carried away in the physique critique. Yes, he's got a junk food habit - for a professional athlete. It's likely he's lazy, as many have claimed for a long time - for a professional athlete. But the reality is that he didn't just turn up out of a pub one day and get signed to millions in wages to play professional football. He might not be Lamela, but even if he's got a few extra kilos around the waist you can still bet he's pretty damned fit. And I'd say it isn't unreasonable to believe that whatever level is deemed in-season fitness to/for him is the level he turned up to the Olympics for.

Now this is just my sensible rationalisation. Like anything it's hard to prove that it's correct. But he'd be thick as fuck to turn up to the Olympics unprepared to do his best when winning a medal or not could be the difference in multiple millions of pounds lost from his career.

We'll see. At the moment he's Spurs, and I want nothing but the absolute best for him. Hope he does come good this season, it'd be great. And if we sell him tomorrow, he can fuck off to Twinkieland.

Did Son sleep with your mrs or something?

Did anyone actually see any of these games? Sounds like he was very wasteful v Honduras.

I saw him play for Korea v Spain in a Euros wam up game for the latter in Germany, he was just as shit, just as utterly unbothered as he had been v Newcastle and in other games. If he's like that for his national team then that sets alarm bells ringing for me - no excuses about being unsettled, or language problems, he's grown up playing alongside these lads. The crowd at the game was 80% Korean too, they were right behind him

Didn't watch it, but there was an article which basically said "Wasteful Son costs Korea". Apparently had lots of good opportunities and missed them all.

You can watch it here: Football: Men's quarter-finals - South Korea v Honduras
