Red is lucky in Asian cultures. Asian companies have more red in their logos in their corporate logos than their non asian corporate counterparts. Companies with red in their logos or branding are more popular in Asia than companies without it. [...] Also if you look down the road you will never guess what colour the goons have as their sponsor branding. My pain point was that we look like twits complaining about the red.
Disagree. Just because red is lucky in Asia doesn't mean that we should bite our tongue and compromise on the club's identity for sponsorship money. I could give a shit whatever Woolwich do with their kit. Red, blue, pink, whatever; that's theirs to do with as they wish.

Heck, putting aside the color red and what it means to us, it's just a fuck ugly big garish logo that simply clashes. I've already got one, but I simply won't be purchasing another red AIA home kit.

Eating Monkey brains is seen as a way to improve intelligence in some countries too...
doesn't mean they're gonna be selling Pickled Monkey Brains any time soon in Tesco's, does it?

I agree, with the sentiment that just 'cos it's seen as being lucky in one part of the World, why should we have to inherit that 'superstition'?
If that's the case, I'll be sending a pair of my 'LUCKY PANTS' to AIA HQ to see if their CEO fancies wearing them next year... it worked a treat for me, I wore them to every game last season without washing them...

Besides, I thought you make your own luck?

this is all a bit of a pointless argument, Nothing anyone says is going to change the fact its going to be red so whats the point going on about it? dont get me wrong im as unhappy with it as the rest of you but its just a waste of time to go on about it so much.

If you dont like it dont buy the shirt simple.

Companies with red in their logos or branding are more popular in Asia than companies without it. Anyone who thought I was insulting Asian people just likes to be insulted. But then again you and I joined this board roughly 2 years apart and you have nearly ten times the number of messages I do. That should tell you something. Also if you look down the road you will never guess what colour the goons have as their sponsor branding. My pain point was that we look like twits complaining about the red.
That's all fine. So, be more careful and write proper English so that your words actually back up your meaning and intention.

If you were unhappy with it, why did you sign the fucking deal! :levywtf:

:memelol:

£££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££

£100m+ over 5 years.... :levywtf:

Just think not long ago our shirt sponsorship would have been £1-2m a season.

Come on Daniel Daniel release that generic Nike template kit!!! My kids are at war over their Spurs kits!

Why should fans be made to feel conflicted about buying or not buying the new shirt because of how it looks?
Many fans want to buy the kit, in a show of support... but with RED on it, some (understandably) feel a conflict of interests in wearing it.
I know two people (one of whom is me) who will try not to wear red on a matchday... that makes it pretty fucking impossible if the one item of clothing designed to show support has red in the middle of it!

Would there be the same argument if say, a player was signed who the fans didn't feel support towards?
Imagine the scenes if we signed someone like Ched Evans for example, or Joey Barton, or even Sol Campbell had somehow come out of retirement to play two final seasons for us, and see us into the new ground?? There would've been fucking outrage! I doubt fans would be told if you don't like it, don't support the team...

... fans want to support the club they love, but if summit ain't quite right with it, they wanna be heard!

The whole 'never red' campaign started under Levy's watch I remember the clothing line in the shop. However they've turned it on it's head since having several shirt sponsors with red logos starting with Thomson, Mansion, Autonomy and now AIA. At the end of the day if players can wear red boots and have red dyed hair. We still play in white and navy. It's hardly a Vincent Tan changing of our colours moment.

No, I agree... the Cardiff City thing was probably the most flagrant disregard for a Club's History, culture and its' fans that i've ever known in football since the whole McWimbledon/MK Dons fiasco! Then again, we'd never have found Dele Alli without them, so I guess some good came of it!

I know the logo on the front of the shirt doesn't really matter, in the grand scheme of things... I just wish it wasn't that particular colour!

I think £100m+ eases the pain of a red sponsor a bit.

Still don't see what's wrong with asking Courage Brewery (with their COCKEREL logo) to sponsor us...?
Other than they can probably only stump together 500k between them... if they ask their mates... and they apply for an extension to their bank loan... but OTHER than that... what's NOT to like?

Gets my vote.
Have stated before my dream team would be kit made by Fred Perry sponsored by Courage best
