Yet you called me naive when I took Poch's words over yours.

Which is it? You trust the experts or not? Appears you trust whichever "expert" suits your agenda.
Souness the man who turned his back on the Liverpool model and tried to do a rangers with them. Spent bundles and did what? One fa cup Some could argue that Liverpool haven't been the same since
Then weasels out the of any responsibility in his book

Admin Admin can you move a whole thread to the Forum Toilet? Asking for a friend.

I just voted Case into the bin for coming up with this abortion of a forum

Why don't all you cunts log off and use the time saved to do something else? do a couple of hours working for a charity, or emailing an old friend or anything else productive, fuck this shit look at yourselves

Firstly, despite your narcissism telling you otherwise, you don't have a right to demand an explanation to everything. It makes you look simple (also makes you look like a nob when you accuse people of being "petty" when you've trademarked it).

Secondly, if you bothered to read the article, you'd have noticed the entire section titled "Do Spurs need to break wage structure?". You might have to ask your carer to read it to you, though, as you clearly rely on basic things being explained to you on a constant basis.
It's an opinion piece - nothing more. It proves absolutely nothing in terms of our transfer strategy. As for the your first paragraph - every time you post on a public forum you have to be prepared to have your opinion challenged - if you can't deal with that - perhaps this place isn't for you.

Just seen the headlines about "Spurs asking to remain informed on Mahrez's situation".

Is that a thing? What does that even mean?

Either we're interested in which case bid or we're not interested.

Again, with respect, your misreading what people are posting. No one has said the team that spends the most wins the title. But generally speaking, spending money on quality players gives you more chance of success.
I think it's wage bills that correlate to success, generally.
Not really how much you pay in transfer fees.
We are in the second tier when it comes to wages.
Better than most, but not quite up there with 5 others.

The polarisation on here is incredible. Neither side willing to consider the grey area, all just black and white.

Harks back to the Redknapp should have never been fired / AVB love in days.... except then we where getting dicked on regularly by the competition instead of coming off the back of our best season in quarter of a century!

I've been reasonably chilled about the lack of signings, i think mostly its due a reduction in my expectations for the coming season. Taking the amount of transition and financial obligations into consideration i think we will be very fortunate not to see a drop in form and i dont expect us to be up there competing for the title again. Ultimately i'm happy to bide my time and allow the project to continue to grow.

Maybe we should change our wage structure then to reflect our financial and champions league status. We would then be a more attractive option for the best players to consider. It's used as an excuse all the time if we're honest. I mean, Jermain Defoe at Bournmouth earns more than Harry Kane at Spurs. Think about it

Where will the money come from?

A lot of well respected people in the game are suggesting our outmoded pay structure needs to be changed to allow us to push on. Souness just the other day was saying we can't keep on expecting to compete on the cheap. Again, with respect mate, I trust the considered thoughts of well respected ex pro's than the words of a ranting maniac like you.

Where will the money come from?

Every time someone challenges you on this point or shoves some hard, concrete numbers under your mush you've go all quiet?

If you're not prepared to do the maths (or cant be bothered) then perhaps you should stop using this as an argument?

He's probably a politician

I think you're right. This season is not going to be as straightforward as, 2nd last year, 3rd before so same as or better.
This season is a different ball game altogether. It's never easy for a team, or it's fans, to adapt to a place not theirs.
Even if it's for more than one season like Fulham, Wimbledon, Charlton etc.
They also played in comparable grounds that were capable of decent atmospheres.

In regards to our usual late transfer dealings does everyone always believe its our/Levy's fault?

Most of the better players who end up at Spurs don't come to us because we're Spurs, they come because the 5 teams in the league who could pay more or the 10 or so elite European clubs don't want them. We Are as someone above put it still in that second tier or B+ club when all players want to go to the category A club.

Especially with agents as they are and late business doing the merry go round effect I'd say players often want to hold out to the last opportunity before commuting to us, wether that be for more money or assumed silverware.

Not ending on a downer as that's changing, we play the best football in the league, rotate the team well, pay well above most other teams, have a world class coach and facilities and soon one of the swankiest stadiums in world football with an increased revenue and probably wages if we want to keep our elite players, along with champions league football and hopefully more challenging for titles to come.

Apologies for the long post, waiting for my pie to cook (steak and ale obviously).:pochsmirk:
