Why is it we are getting the shit for not beating a team who cost around 750 million and are the most successful in British football
I think it's more to do with the fact he didn't seem to take the match seriously enough
His pre- match comments were bizarre to say the least. Seemed to preparing for defeat rather than pumping the players up for a historic victory.
Then he plays a weekened team. And despite the delusions of some on here he did. Leaving out Toby, Hugo and possibly even Danny is playing a weakened team however you want to disguise it.
And the attitude of the players on the pitch after conceding just didn't look right. Not just to Spurs fans but neutrals alike.
Plus, again despite the fact that many on here deny it, there was an element of home advantage for us. We've played in the stadium over 20 times this season.
Factor in we'd lost 7 semi-finals in a row, the whole club, from top to bottom should have been busting a gut, giving 110%, using eveything to their avantage to finally give their fans an FA cup final to look forward to...
So it WAS more than just getting beat by a team that cost a lot of money. It was a match we really should have won.

Yes, upon reading that I have to agree.

It’s also the best squad in decades, and a once in a generation opportunity to win trophies; Pochettino isn’t doing that.

The spine of the team is Lloris-Vertonghen-Dembele-Eriksen-Kane, all of whom pre-dated Pochettino; he’s inherited great players, players who Mourinho/Simeone would win titles with.

He’s failed to win the Premier League in the previous two season despite having the best team both years, and that team is now beginning to disband; coinciding with the Manc clubs’ respective revivals, the project is losing momentum and need fresh ideas to kick-start it. Otherwise, the likes of Eriksen and Kane will begin to lose faith and patience, and it’ll be back to where we were a decade ago.

Pochettino has thus far proven to be nothing more than a glorified youth coach - he’s 46 now, so no novice either. Most great coaches had already put some trophies in cabinets by that age.

That will go down like a shit sandwich with most of the supporterbase but I have little doubt that much of that will will be the accepted viewpoint when looking back at the Pochettinho era.

It’s somewhat ironic that the this side is being referenced with the Newcastle side of the ‘90s because many in the supporterbase mirror the unwavering devotion to Poch that many Newcastle supporters did and still do to Keegan.

Poch has made us into contenders, he didn't take over an established team of champions.

We haven't won a trophy but are on the verge of qualifying for the CL three seasons running. It wasn't that long ago that we would've been delighted with just one.

Poch is the most important person at the football club. He'll be hurting after Saturday but also determined to help us do better next year.

Some 'fans' are disgracing themselves in all honesty, questioning Poch and the job he has done. We're lucky to have him.

You’re being a total ingrate. Poch has steadied a sinking ship and actually made us a competitive team. We’ve only looked like “the best team” of the last two years because of what he’s got out of them. Whether Levy got lucky or knew something the rest didn’t, we struck gold getting this guy as our manager. It’s fucking disgraceful how quick some people are to start claiming he’s not doing enough for us. Just you wait and see what happens when he’s not around any more. Do you really think we would get a Mourinho or Guardiola level manager if he leaves? No fucking chance. They couldn’t handle having a reduced budget.

Edit : Also, claiming that Mourinho would have won titles with the team that Poch inherited is also clearly fucking ridiculous. He has spent huge amounts just to try and get Man U to be competitive, and he hasn’t won the league with them yet. Ask a Utd fan whether they would swap him Poch, I think you’ll find many would.

This thread was entirely predictable unfortunately. The pond has been stirred and the bottom feeders have risen to the surface.
I think it was started because of Poch's unusual post match comments suggesting he might be offski.
But fair play, your analogy is fucking brilliant

No Poch didn’t make us contenders, he has played a part in us becoming contenders. The structure ( board, recruitment and youth set up) was already in place as was the nucleus of the squad was there. He has undoubtedly improved that playing squad but let’s not pretend that this isn’t a club that finished 4th, 5th 4th 5th and 6th this decade prior to his arrival.

And he isn’t the most important person at the club, it is a collective effort. His contribution is being massively overplayed, the suggestion is that this largely done to him which is quite frankly absurd because if you think he couldn’t replicate this at a club like Newcastle for instance is pure fantasy.

I cannot fathom why anyone would think a manager should be above scrutiny or critique and the notion that a supporter doing this cannot be considered a fan is absolutely laughable. Any manager regardless of who they are should be constantly evaluated especially when we have this limited window of opportunity for major silverware given the squad we have.

I couldn’t care less about CL qualification, it’s this preoccupation with the CL is the reason why he now finds himself under large pressure to win silverware. He has squandered countless opportunities in the cup tournaments by focusing on these so called higher priorities.

Where have I heard about this “top 4”trophy from before?

If Poch goes this summer and I really hope he does not but he would be remembered as a Manager that won nothing and left before his project was completed.
I want him to stay not because of what he has done but because of what I think he can achieve.
When the new stadium was announced it was clear we faced a few difficult seasons. This one away from home and next season will no doubt be difficult at first possibly playing consecutive away matches and getting used to the new ground.
However the year after will be the year when we will have more income and in theory better positioned to challenge other top 4 teams in the transfer market and on salaries. No not MC or MU but with Chelsea at Wembley and woolwich and Liverpool.
However that all depends on keeping the same Manager and the core of the team. Starting again with a new Manager will be a backward step and I hate to think of the likelyhood of players following him out of the door.
