Under redknapp it never felt like it would last, all about the here and now but the football was some of the best I have ever seen spurs play.

Avb was more methodical, I liked him but the style of play was not so great and seeing Clint bloody Dempsey playing where vdv once played was nauseating.

Bringing in 7 players was madness, I felt for avb but he also didn't help himself allowing cliques to form in the squad which that idiot Sherwood only encouraged by his team selection and no tactics, it took poch four transfer windows to get the bad eggs out of the squad

If anyone compares AV fucking B favourably to Poch, I'm going to lose my fucking temper.

I really hope that nobody is doing that (not read all the posts in this thread, and I don't intend to!)

AVB’s football was so terrible to watch only a title would have been good enough for me to put up with that crap. Honestly drove me to depression, one of our worst managers, if we don’t win things at least play attractive football that was the most boring in my lifetime supporting this club.

Was so happy the day he fucked off, even with sherwood taking the temp role.

Well maybe if you didn’t write such ambiguous, wordy nonsense, people wouldn’t miss your wheezy, flabby ‘points’. You write complete bollocks using the word ‘absurd’ like you’re getting paid for it. It doesn’t make you look clever, it makes you look stupid. The internet is full of people who try to appear cleverer than they are - they’re just too thick to realise that other people notice when a dimwit is piping up.

What an all pervading notion of absolute absurdity that was.

I’m not going to bite mate. Those who try to compare AVB with Pochettino - to try to make some silly point scoring notion of equivalency, have to be trading on some ancient slight because there is no reasonable comparison to be made if you have eyes in your head and a brain to go with them. You and Hood carry on, because your opinions mean literally nothing to me. This place is fucked anyway - it’s no longer about Tottenham - it’s about individual posters. Many of whom I don’t have the slightest respect for.

Edit: stevee stevee You might want to remove your ‘agree’ because I went further than my original point.

Jesus, why does everything have to be so fucking melodramatic. We are talking about Tottenham. It's about Tottenham. Do you seriously expect us all to agree on every facet of Tottenham. Or just come on here and chant in unison?

Do you only respect people that think exactly the same as you?

I don't really see it as a bad thing - AVB/Pochettino comparison - as I said, I think Pochettino was a natural evolution, I think he is a better coach, but I don't think they are as fundamentally different as some think.

AVB played a very risk averse, heavy possession biased game that exploited the players he had, like Bale. Pochettino, since 15/16 has pretty much done the same, but with a infinitely better squad and a bit better coaching and tactical application. Since the start of 15/16 we haven't played high tempo, high risk, quick transition football, we play with two very stolid CM's who rarely get anywhere near box, who shuffle the ball about incredibly carefully, and we play big chunk with three CB's.

AVB hit two clubs in the PL who were both going through a major transition, Chelsea with an ageing influential Terry, Lampard etc that were being phased out, and was given no time or backing to bring about a real change, his successor, despite fluking the CL, couldn't manage any better in the league and was sacked not long after, and within two seasons of AVB arriving here we'd lost every single influential player of the previous 3 years, Modric, VDV, Bale, Adebayor (in mind of not body), Gallas, King etc. and had to start completely fresh with a bunch of new players, most new the country as well as the team.

One of our worst managers FFS, what are you 12?

No, I respect people who disagree with me with a degree of eloquence, or who just tell me to fuck off. I didn’t read the rest of your post - like I said, I’ve got no interest in what you’ve got to say. Tell it to somebody who gives a shit. I hope that’s not too melodramatic for you. Have a peaceful night.

Can’t agree that AVB was one of the worst managers when I have seen gems like the Doug, Ray and El Tel trinity, Ossie’s bad Days, Francis, Gross, Pleat 2, Santini and Tactics Tim, oh & George Graham ! AVB was better than all of them. Just about - although statistics say he was ( at least at the point of sacking) the most successful of all managers in the premier league era.

Tim was more exciting - just a knob.

The others had weaker squads mainly. Going from Redknapp to AVB was like skydiving into an accountancy lesson (not that Redknapp was without flaws)

As a fan I have always expected we won’t win much but to play boring football as a Spurs manager is criminal. That we have a manager who plays good football and gets us at least top 4 is a miracle to me.

I only replied to you with one line, you then told me you weren't going to bite and then proceeded to bite, whittling on about how everything is shit now and the end is fucking nigh.

Anyway...

Very rare to get 90 exciting minutes out of Poch’s Spurs though. Quite often we have definitely had a 45 minute split where some performances have been - well shall we say - boring ( sorry gaffer )

Might have turned out very differently if AVB got his number 1 target in Moutinho.

No, I absolutely I did, but I also watched us getting relegated in the seventies, playing want football in the nineties and turgid shit in the early 00's (never know what to call that era).

Seventies I wasn’t around for so fair is fair I can’t call on that. 90’s we where not good but I enjoyed a lot of it during the days of certain players.

Look maybe I am hard on AVB but his football was SO boring.

Look at United, Moyes, LVG and Mourinho. A club with a great attacking tradition reduced to boring shit, we have attacking traditions every bit as great as United if not the success and that is part of what has always made us a fantastic club in my view.

I doubt it. Look for me Spurs is about fun and that guy sucked it out of the club, I found that very hard to deal with

Well simply looking at the type of player Moutinho was back then you can see that we would have been more creative, with forward passing instead of sideways crab football.

It wasn’t all bad. I’d prefer to see us playing swashbuckling attacking football, but I can also take enjoyment from game management that squeezes out results, which AVB did quite often. No denying that by his last season we were absolutely horrendous to watch.

Ironically the most entertaining thing about AVB games was often AVB himself.

I love the last line
