Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought Sissoko “didn’t resemble a footballer, couldn’t control a football to save his life, had no brain, couldn’t pass to a team mate and shouldn’t be anywhere near the club” though......?

But you go Mick.......you tell him
Oh fuck off
How many times do I have to repeat the same shit to you?
You seriously can't be so stupid that you keep forgetting? And the difference between him (BC) and me is that I have the humility to admit it when a player improves and changes my opinion.
And anything of the above that I said about Sissoko was applicable to his start with us, he was crap - he's improved.

Another report...

And another...
Bear in mind that both these articles cite the same italian journo - so it's not yet at the stage of having several reputable sources running with it.

Maybe not yet, but when you're buying players that young, you are investing. Maybe Levy and co think he has the potential to be worth that (and a lot more). To be honest, if there's anything I trust Levy on, it's managing our finances so no quibbles from me!

To me he looks like another Lamela, good but not great. He isn't amazingly quick either, which is something that would be useful in our squad.

Christ, why is it Sissoko’s fault when Trippier plays badly? It’s not Sissoko telling him to mis control the ball is it? This agenda is getting silly now

Here’s the thing. We’ve apparently got this uber RCM, most people’s “player of the season” as Bazali Bazali keeps telling me, and we have this catastrophe of a RB. But guess what position we have prioritised above all others and smashed our transfer record upgrading this summer?

I’ll give you a clue, it wasn’t RB.

That doesn’t affect me. I never judge players from performances in recent international tournaments.

Learnt that lesson from way back with players like Acimovic and Zokora.

I just don’t like old players, particularly in positions which require lots of stamina/athleticism.

Though I as a rule agree with that we shouldn't be signing 30+ players, you're a bit guilty of apples and oranges here.

There's a world of difference between someone like Acimovic coming to the fore in a major tournament and being signed on that basis, rather than proving himself over a whole season, or even seasons. And then someone who proved in a major tournament that he still has the stamina and athleticism at the tail end of a season. And that he still has the drive and desire to lead a team by example after his career trophy haul.

I get the sense that some fans are still effected by the Nelsen, Saha ordeal, which happened at a time when we clearly needed something else to keep moving forward.

I don't think we should start signing 30+ players as a rule, and I most definitely don't think we will, but the odd one is a good thing. Especially in a position where we clearly had issues, have two first-teamers where one could come good (and the one of the two Poch believes less in can be sold) while also having two youngsters pushing who could learn from the 30+ master of the position.

Also I trust that we have a man in charge who'll sign someone with a Llorente impact :pochsmirk: not a Saha impact :harryhmm:

Goal ace Roberto Soldado to sign for Granada today...

Why did Perryman disagree with the above post? I asked a genuine question, I don't know and haven't heard of Dunk.
45m for Dunk is a joke even in this mad transfer world. Put him one on one with someone and he will struggle. Wan Bissaka was expensive but he was poss the best full back in the league

I'd make the same claim about Maguire. He's got the same turn ratio as a ferry. They've both gained a fair bit of experince, so they don't end up in these situations as often as they used to.

Yes, the price is ludicrous but an england international switching between two premiership clubs. Leicester doing the right thing by getting their main target, after shipping off Maguire for a record fee.

Kinda like when Liverpool sold Torres and splashed the cash on Andy Carroll

:crouch:

...luckily for them they brought in one Suarez at the same time
