Not saying it's true, but Liverpool's Van Djik deal really shows how much a top top centre back can transform a defence.
He made everyone look better almost immediately, and god knows our defence needs some sorting.

I think it was probably more the fact we no longer started Bentaleb and Mason in a midfield two and took Fazio out of defence.
Poch was already here.
Best defense in the league 2yrs running.
We also had the best full backs in the league, too.

Just stop it lads... Whenever I get reminded that that squad couldn't win anything it almost makes me cry. Just criminal. Especially since they were the last 2 seasons at The Lane...
Even Woolwich have won multiple FA Cups in the last 5 years.Whenever I get reminded that that squad couldn't win anything it almost makes me cry. Just criminal.

Oh ffs... At least I take great pleasure knowing that those FA Cups meant fuck all when it came to attracting other players.

Is he the type of player to do DM in a double pivot though? I don't think we would cast him as another box-to-box signing if our record transfer Ndombele is still in our plans.
I know Vidal’s 32 and not a long term solution, but $16~17 million is a steal for a player of his quality (Wanyama is around $14 mil as of today per transfermarkt.us). Vidal can definitely strengthen our middle for the rest of the season and possibly provide more for a season or two. He’s clearly a better option in my mind compared to Matic or Fellaini if what Mourinho wants is an immediate fusion of an experienced player in the middle.

Also he's on 175k (euro) pw, which is quite steep for an aging short term solution.
I'm not doubting he could add something to our midfield, but I'm hesitating about wether him & Spurs is the ideal combo at this time
Vidal can play as a DM and bring you some scoring and assists. He is tenacious.
He’d be an excellent signing. And I’d suggest Verts is now a left back. Mourinho likes a big handy bastard at full back (see Ivanovic for this). As for Foyth, unproven, as is Tanganga. Sanchez has a massive brain fart in him and Dier isnt exactly recapturing his form of a few years back.I hope not. That would set us back £70m and for that amount I'd rather buy a RB and LB. If we tweak other positions I think our CBs are good enough, and there are a lot of options: Toby, Vertonghen, Foyth, Sanchez, Dier and Tanganga
