Do you know why people say these things? A number of fans on here say them. Almost every journalist and commentator say them. The ex footballers in the media say them.Difficult to sign strikers in January is the line now
And in the summer it will revert back to the "no one will be willing to come in and be second fiddle to Kane"
In a moment of boredom I was doing this yesterday when, lo and behold, someone popped up and cited half of them in one post, so I'm afraid we already have a winner. Since then, the rest have been trotted out, but hey ho, I'll post it anyway...

CE left for 16m and Bergwijn signed for 27m. So that's 11m that potentially could have been available in the summer. Add to that Clarke was 10m and according to you a "Levy punt" so you think maybe Levy wouldn't have taken the 'punt' and added that to the striker transfer kitty had Poch insisted on a striker? I mean that's 21m accounted for right there. As in he was scouted by our scouts, in view to selling him for a profit later on. Poch just agreed with it, knowing it wouldn't affect his purchases.
CE left which gave us space and funds for Bergwijn, but clearly JM still wanted a striker, we're scratching around for Giroud at the end of the window. That doesn't indicate there are funds available to buy a decent striker.
Really neglecting the squad for two windows previously has got us into this mess so they are also complicit in this as well.54m on N'dombele
43m in Lo Celso
10m on Clarke
25m on Sessegnon
As reported by the evening standard those were our 4 targets going into the summer and we got all 4 of them. Surely Poch must have been ok with this and Levy delivered.
This Jan he has given Mourinho:
50m option on Fernandes
27m on Bergwijn.
I've posted previous about Levy/Enic and stated they need to be doing much more but on this occasion they have. It's not their fault we have performed so shite.
Yep agree there.Really neglecting the squad for two windows previously has got us into this mess so they are also complicit in this as well.
Reading reports that Real Sociedad wanted €30m for Willian Jose. Much better to spend that on Bergwjin in my opinion.
Poch probably thought that 21 million isn't going to be enough to buy the striker we need and he'd be right.CE left for 16m and Bergwijn signed for 27m. No need to bring Mourinho in this as its clear he wants/wanted a striker. This was simply about my statement about Poch clearly not thinking he needed one in the summer.
I think you're being unrealistic but whatever. We are probably not going to spend more than that on a back up striker in the sumner so be prepared to be disappointed.Poch probably thought that 21 million isn't going to be enough to buy the striker we need and he'd be right.
Trouble is we rush him back too quickly because we are always desperate as we never have adequate cover.Let's just say that Kane is back in 5-6 games as Wembley know he's a quick healer. Long shot and all hypothetical but for €30m do we get someone who might be a star for the next ten years for us or lump it on someone who will inevitably be playing second fiddle once Harry is back?
Still don't believe there isn't/ wasn't someone knocking about who could have done a temporarily better job than a 17 year old kid etc. What will be will be I guess.
just can’t defend it anymore mate. It’s been year on year of this bollocks, one excuse after another. Short arms and deep pockets our chairman.
