And the crux of it

‘For all the good husbandry and good habits, the fine coaching, the refusal to splurge on superstars, City have still spent £340m net in transfer fees since Guardiola has been at the club, and hundreds of millions before that, all the while failing to produce a single homegrown first-team regular. Was it ever sustainable? Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, might just have had a point all along. The numbers really don’t add up.‘

Whilst I am all in favour of rejoicing at the cheats being caught this refers to the period 2012 to 2016 ... the Man City of 2020 are now fully compliant with FFP and EPL rules.

Back in 2012 they were a tin-pot club, not poor but closer to our level than top four, they reported 170m income from Tickets and TV plus a 'false' 165m income from Commercial ... that 'false' income allowed them to spend the huge sums on players and salaries. So their rise to the top was on the back of blatant cheating.

The owners put in 1.3 billion in legitimate funding, ground, training facilities, we have spent a similar amount albeit we got most of it in loans not from our owners, so that's real. It was the other 590 million in dodgy sponsorship over those five years that gave them a huge advantage.

The Man City of 2019 had an income of 500m, 270m from tickets and TV and 232m from Marketing, whilst that's a huge number as the triple domestic trophy winners, and reaching the last 8 in the CL, it's also very plausible.

A 45 million shirt sponsorship deal, crazy in 2012 now only ranks them 5th ... Utd get 71m ... so that is no longer fake, indeed it will probably go up to cover their fines ...

Another example of how they've become legit is Man City's official shirt sales these have more than quadrupled in just four years, they have gone from mid table to a very big club, they sold more official shirts than all EPL clubs bar Utd and Liverpool last year, almost double the number we sold.

They deserve to be punished but they're not going away, they are perhaps the best placed club in the EPL to miss two years of CL football and not have to worry about the money ... can they hold the team together? why not they built it when they were nobodies now it's just a question of money, and now they legitimately have loads.

Glad they've been busted ... but they're not doing a Leeds.

How many times do you see a City shirt though?

Go to Spain, Greece even the US, you never see a City shirt, lots of Pool, United, Arse and even moreso now Spurs..... outside Manchester nothing.

I've only ever met City fans who come from Manchester. And they are all genuine fans since childhood, long before the takeover, and all pretty humble and decent supporters.
If there are plastics/ new fans around you probably only see them online or abroad.

Reading this morning that any ban city recieve could mean there breaching players contracts allowing the players to leave on frees !. Could anyone confirm if this is correct...
If it is true ...fucking happy days..serves em right .

Top football lawyer said it’s very possible as the club would have breached the players contracts.

It's odd, maybe we just don't see them so much in the West ... decent support across Asia, Africa and South America ...

When I was a regular City fans were a decent bunch, having been in Utd' s shadow for decades they were all loyal as feck. Can't blame then for enjoying success, even if it was all fake ... look at the number of incessant wankers on here going on and on and on about wanting Levy and ENIC to financially dope us. Some people have very low morals when it comes to winning.

The donut going to be on sunday supplement. He really gets on my wick
Listened to that, he produced a rebuttal so full of holes cited that other teams just couldn’t break in without adherence to FFP then used Everton as the example. Spurs cough cough. Fucking twat

You don't see City fans in the US because even us Yanks realize it's been an exercise in sportwashing for a petrolstate.

City fans made their deal with the devil and the bill has come due.
