Ex-Spurs Player Eric Dier

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

TBH, I think we could do with him and Winks being banned just to make us try something other than Captain Crab and Deputy Captain Sideways starting every match.

Try an "in my opinion". You just come across as a dick.
You are saying you are a better judge of what is right or wrong for a professional footballer than respected sports writers (The Times, The Guardian), his boss, and fellow professional players. You are not a better judge than those people. In my opinion.

The majority of the tweets above that support Dier don't include 'in my opinion' either but you didn't say anything about those.

It's odd that you only criticise people for not using the phrase 'in my opinion' when they are saying something you disagree with.

Yup you've self diagnosed the issue correctly there I'd say. We've all seen the entire footage and there was not a single punch thrown. He did not try to fight a fan.
A bit confused now. What was he doing running up in the stands for? Was he not gonna fight a fan?
Another poster just said the fan was a coward for running away. So which is it?

In my view he was running up the stands to get to his brother who he perceived was in a dangerous situation. He wanted to help extract him from that situation. My personal feeling is that he was going to get his brother and take him away from what was going on. Whether that was to protect him from the other party or from the consequences I have no idea. But that's what I think he was doing.

Check the use of words like "might", "I suspect" and "I think". These are opinions.

In message 4263:

First, fourth, fifth and seventh links posted - none of those words are used.

Second link - the word 'think' is used in relation to fans' idiotic reasons for shouting abuse, not Dier's actions.

Third link - 'might' is used in relation to what may happen to fans who shout abuse.
He suspects everyone secretly admires Dier. He's wrong. Because I and others certainly don't admire what he did.

I still think you're a hypocrite.

And that is absolutely your right to believe that. I didn't spend long on it and won't, but in the first link, the tweet uses the phrase "is surprised..." an opinion again. José: I think Eric did something..." an opinion. GENERALLY those are opinion pieces and the words are pretty carefully chosen to make that clear. Blatantly giving a "you're wrong, I'm right" comes over as being a dick to me. Yes, even on a forum, where "it's all about opinions, there are ways of expressing yourself which come over more balanced than others. In this instance I don't think there was any balance.

I just think suddenly we are at a new stage where finding cheap players or developing youngsters is going to be the way ahead. No more £55m midfielders who cannot cope with the PL. Other teams find Doucoure, Maddison etc .
Seems like as soon as you hit CL, you are buying from the European leagues at hugely inflated prices. I think both Kane and JM leaving and Spurs taking a new route.
the increased income doesn't help then - except we can offer better wages once they prove worthy?

Whereas saying:

'Try an "in my opinion". You just come across as a dick.'

is totally balanced and without a hint of hypocrisy....

Can we introduce Eric to Paddy, JT and a few more of the anti-Spurs crowd ... he can run them all crying out of the stadium, I'd pay 1,200 quid a season just to watch that ....
You'd pay fuck all in your hidaway in thailand. You left this country to hide from the tax man but it dont stop you jabbing on.

I actually go to spurs games. Season ticket holder for over 15 years nearly 400 loyalty points. I really support the team with my time, money, voice & heart. You, You're just a bullshit artist.

I really don't care what Twitter, FB or Jose Mourinho say. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable. And Eric Dier should know better. End of

Sorry but there is no “End of”, on this issue. Everyone has an opinion and you are entitled to yours; but it just so happens that I don’t and will never agree with you. Fraternal instinct is what it was and from time to time even so called professionals - will forget the money and status they have, in a family comes first matter!

Football is a working class sport enjoyed also by the middle classes’ - even Billy Windsor: let’s not poison football culture by enforcing [on us] rugby union culture.

I think you should have your own opinion. But there is no justifying what Eric Dier did as a Tottenham employee. End of.
