Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We lost to Chelsea and Wolves too. I think since the restart we have looked much more solid defensively during the home games. From being a side that was completely open and porous at the back before Covid struck I think there has been a big improvement. However like you say that won't be enough against the top sides where we will have to be much better offensively to cause them problems and not just worry about what they will do to us.

Look, like him or not Jose is a very thorough guy. Imagine all that knowledge acquired over the last 20 or so years since he first started out as translator for Bobby Robson until now. I'm not a fan of the style of play but Im prepared to let him do the job his way and see what results he can achieve because his CV is one of the best and he knows what he is doing. He wasnt my choice to replace Poch and I think Levy again made a wrong choice but so be it, let's give the man a chance
We’ve no other option really we were going nowhere fast before he rocked up. Over the years the goons & Mourinho‘s chavs have built 90% of their success playing brain numbing eye bleeding football but did their fan base or players complain when lifting silverware, nope the only thing is are the likes of Dele, Kane ,Son, Lo Celso going to adapt that style non of them are that type of player.

Jamie O'Hara not a fan of Jose.

Changed his tune then. 6 months ago he couldn't stop licking his arse. Talksport for you I guess.

Last night was a borefest of the highest order. But we won. What do we want?Wins or gallantly losing 4-3 to Inter and making a game of it. Still won't judge Mourinho till next season. And even that will depend on whether he has some pennies to spend.

I just hope Jose watched what happened to Poch and learns from his mistakes. Stubbornly playing favourites out of loyalty or to prove some sort of point will only see him get the sack.

This transfer window is going to be crucial.

People really seem to forget that this is still fundamentally Pochettino’s squad, bar Gedson on a no brainer loan and an astute looking Bergwijn signing all done in a January window.

Like any manager would deserve can we at least give him a summer window to shape us a little in his image? Na, thought so :mourfacepalm:

Let me start with this, I am not enjoying the spectacle at the moment.
I am enjoying seeing some more certain defensive performances however bar Sheff.

I think for people already wanting to get rid of the guy is madness.
He has a track record of having very strong second seasons with teams usually resulting in titles (I think Man Utd is the only exception?).

I'm not saying we will win a title next season, but we have given the guy not even half a season and some are already chalking him off.

Some reading below;

Well then most new managers that turn things around should get no credit than as it is the last managers squad.

People think you can just come in and get 11 new players. You have to work with what you got and currently he is ignoring some crucial parts IMO

What’s he ignoring in all honesty? 4 games played since we resumed, 3 games with no goals conceded from open play seems like he’s steadied a very rocky ship.

What were we, second in the form table prior to Kane’s injury or was it Sonny’s? I’m not sure what we can expect when we have a half knackered team he can roll out every week.

We need at least 4 in and 4 out, until then he can only try to stabilise the core which more often than not isn’t a pretty sight.

When Poch was here people were constantly complaining that we never won anything even though we played well. When he was sacked we brought in a manager with a history of winning who plays pragmatic football. Now people are complaining he's playing pragmatic football and trying to instill a winners mentality. Sure, the results haven't been great so far but there's certainly been mitigating circumstances and he's had no summer window yet. SO now that we have a winner suddenly people just want to play pretty football again.

Obviously people are fickle but there are a handful of clubs in the world that can afford to buy all of the best players in the world to play amazing, thrilling football while winning everything in sight. We just aren't one of those clubs and if the goal is to win things, we may need to sacrifice playing beautiful football.

Yup, it’s time to be realistic and that comes with finding out of the box ways to make the 6th biggest club achieve more than the so called 5 ahead of us in stature. We need to get out of this fairytale ideology and realise that football is a completely different beast now. We’ve taken steps back, back the guy and actually support the club in moving us forward as without the fans giving him our full backing, it falls flat but then again I think a lot would rather see us fail so they can say I told you so than to dig in, accept it for what it is and add that extra 5-10% as and when the team need it and we are able to.

I agree with you, but what manager doesn’t play favourites?

A more dynamic one I assume.

If Ndombele isn't fit enough then have him FRAAB and then when you can see his lung crowning out of his arse put on Winks who is fit AND reliable. Because he isn't running around like Gordon Brittas with his knees up doesn't mean he can't win us a game. Same goes for plenty of other players in the side who aren't getting minutes because they are kept out by the physically fit but mentally weak.

The only thing as bad as seeing us play is seeing the uninspiring team sheets every fucking week even though we have fuck all to play for in the Corona "It means more deaths" Cup*. We are shit. Time to shake things up a little. Play the kids. Tie Sonny and Hugo's laces together I don't care. Do something.

For me he is ignoring the lazy one as some call him. He is ignoring his chance to bleed some youth, like most of those top 4 teams are actually doing. He is somehow sustaining with Sissoko in the middle.

I fully stand in the "I want attractive football" camp because I believe it is also winning football. I loved Harry and early Poch. I loathed AVB, Late Poch and Jose. I started following the league in late Ramos years so that is my knowledge base.

I never wanted this appointment and still am steadfast that he is the wrong man to lead us through this time of extreme budget management.

I agree, we need a refreshment, but I think a lot of people here would have been more patient with a manager that has the desire to tinker to find a way to make this squad work and that also means playing an attractive style. We have a guy who will be fine with the ugliest of wins and will just continue to play that way because it worked for him in the past. He came in saying he had some new ideas. He has shown zero of that so far.
