These reasons are a bit underwhelming. I fear he's a mid table aspiring to top 6 kind of buy. And if we weren't in for him, he'd probably end up at Everton.

To close the gap we need to be buying better players than our rivals. Liverpool win the league and are looking at bringing in Thiago. Woolwich might get Partey. Rodri, Fabinho, Kante, Matic, Ndidi. Not convinced Hojbjerg is at that level.

They are just starting now as they know it takes at least a few months to get a deal over the line. What with agents fee's, finding the player a hotel during the virus etc.

I'd say a decent signing for them. I quite like him. Not top notch like VVD but a big improvement on what they have & only 25. I don't know whether he & laporte will make a good combo. The studious football posters on here can tell me. 40m is probably fair & at least he is premiership proven.

Vague, utterly unsubstantiated bullshit that allows him to completely hedge his bets whilst adding nothing. And the the proverbial cherry - the 'two obvious deals are close' shtick, when we have no idea who he is referring to.
