Thanks, Stanley. I agree and I´ll give the benefit of the doubt until the end of the window. But there are bad signs.

For example, do you think we are signing two FB´s until the end of the window? I don´t. I think we are signing one - nobody knows who -, and I think we are going to the season with Gedson, Tanganga and Cirkin as FB´s options. That´s not a "much more balanced squad" at all.
Personally, I think getting two 'dedicated' RB's in is unlikely. Purely from a depth perspective, I could see how going from KWP & Aurier to New player & Tanganga/Gedson could be seen as a downgrade.

Looking at past season, Aurier played almost every match, so maybe Mourinho is happy with 1 new dedicated RB who he will let play 90% of the time, even if a busy calendar would advice him to rotate more. I also believe Mourinho didn't rate KWP, so in that perspective perhaps it is an upgrade to have New player & Tanganga/Gedson since he does trust Tanganga a lot, even if he's not playing in his natural position. He already played there once before and I don't remember him doing badly at all.

Not hard when Maguire is serving 2 years Bird abroad! :levylol:
But yeah i agree, if Ledley is as good a coach as he was a player, with him and Jose our defence should be solid
Plus you can clearly see Tanganga is a natural footballer.
Maguire is an old school style defender for me, lacks finesse and that extra “thing” that makes a special player.
Tanganga has that already he’s just inexperienced.

It’s why I’m not into the whole VVD is up there Maldini nonsense.
Have to be on crack to see that one.

About Chelsea - and Havertz, Chillwell, Werner and Ziyech - and us.

I don´t want us to compete with their money. I´m not bothered about their spending or any of their huge signings. Honestly.

I understand we have a different structure, and I understand that we could be seriously affected by the pandemic.

But I want us to be smart and do our "little business", as Jose said, to make our team better and our squad more balanced.

That is not what we are doing.

How are we going to the season with a "much more balanced" squad - again, Jose´s words -, if we´ll have two recognized FB´s - assuming we sign one -, and that´s it?

We just had a disastrous season in terms of injuries and yet we don´t have a backup to Harry Kane - again!

Not to mention that, for the first team or at least for an immediate backup, we are still trusting in the Eric Dier´s experiment in our CB area.

This is less than "little business", this is not how you build a more balanced squad - and that´s my problem at the moment.

That's far more reasonable than a lot of the reactionary, fatalistic bilge spewed in this thread...

If the areas you highlight remain unaddressed when the window closes then the concerns you have are vindicated.... There is of course the secondary matter/debate/critique of whether or not our business is done after the season has started, but for now we can afford to reserve judgement.

A side note ref: "The Dier Experiment"....

Whilst he's played a shit-load at CB over the years; we have 5 CBs on the books, if Jose deems him to win the toss up for a starting spot out of him Toby & Dav then that's a managerial call; not an experiment forced upon him by a lack of options.

Thanks, Stanley. I agree and I´ll give the benefit of the doubt until the end of the window. But there are bad signs.

Are there?

We have been linked with a handfull of RBs, STs & a couple of CBs.....

Like you've conceeded; the window is still open and thus I remain calm.

For example, do you think we are signing two FB´s until the end of the window? I don´t. I think we are signing one - nobody knows who -, and I think we are going to the season with Gedson, Tanganga and Cirkin as FB´s options. That´s not a "much more balanced squad" at all.

Depends what you (or he) means by "balanced"?

If Jose thinks they are up to the task of back-up and more importantly is happy to play them there then surely that indeed balances the squad (as opposed to having too many players in one position and not enough in others)....?

You haven't a clue as to what you're responding to have you?

(Geezer was actually talking about Levy actively seeking to sell our star players which is unfounded bullshit.)
Why don't you f*ck off you pompous arrogant would-be expert. You are without doubt the most unpleasant opinionated prick I've ever come across. Online or in life. And I've come across some beauties in my time.
You're only happy when you're putting someone down or proving to yourself that you are "king of the forum"
There must be something awfully wrong in your life because you behave like a surly 6th form prefect. No wonder so many people on here dislike you. That's something you can be extremely proud of.

Regarding Right Back.

People inclined to fear that we are hopelessly exposed at RB, given Aurier looks offski, might find solace in Wan-Bissaka (sp?).

He was behind Walker-Peters at youth international levels, then one season of Prem experience makes him a £50M player (abstract valuation of course).

We have sold a RB with higher youth pedigree than a player now 'worth' £50M, because we have more faith in Tanganga and Gedson to be better for our current system/managers needs, it appears.

If we can upgrade Aurier with a new signing, then we might just see the emergence of a top RB in one of the two understudies (Ashley Cole and hosts of others were wingers, early doors...).

Personally think it's quite exciting to watch it develop.
