Not quite..wouldn't the Chinese club hand Jan a ridiculous "Oscar" contract when he moves to them ? and makes it easier to negotiate for the defender too given that they get a world-class central defender in return

I've just had to google this as I have always thought it was 'Miss Miller....'
nlpnow.com
And dependant on how the midfield was set up to allow it.
I'm just pointing out that there's no point discounting a link because our rb is supposedly the attacking one.
And if Jan didn't want to go there? Not quite..wouldn't the Chinese club hand Jan a ridiculous "Oscar" contract when he moves to them ? and makes it easier to negotiate for the defender too given that they get a world-class central defender in return

In addition to the (loosely) DoF in charge of recruitment versus Head Coach plus scouting system models, there is an emerging third model.

Agent-led recruitment.
Nuno Espirito Santo is an astute coach, but his signings have been primarily Jorge Mendes players. Luckily for Santo, those players have been of a generally high quality.
Perhaps more surprisingly, when Woolwich sacked most of their international scouting team, we heard under Edu they were moving to "agent-led recruitment".
We're not there yet, but there have clearly been some recent signings which were largely the result of our relationship with key agents - eg Gedson, PEH and probably Doherty.
Those players were not discovered by scouting, and it would be interesting to know the relative weight of our scouting network's analysis versus Mourinho & Sacramento's judgement of their likely effectiveness in our tactical system.

The Gunners have moved more towards agent-led recruitment strategies in recent seasons, a likely reason behind the restructuring of their senior scouting set up.

Absolutely.I've always thought the danger in that system is that the players are effectively 'owned' by the agents who move them around, quite possibly to generate a feee for the agent, rather than being owned by the club.
I don't think it's an either or, the club scouted him and chose to pass for whatever reason. For that price I would have bought him if he wanted to come, I imagine promises of playing time at Palace played into it, but it's not like they aren't aware of Eze or Watkins or any of these other players. Clarke was the same type of buy.Very disappointing this one. Not so much a scouting system failure as we seemed to be well aware of Eze and a few months ago it seemed like we were very keen to sign him, more a recruitment system failure as we seemed to choose to spend 27m on non HG Bergwijn instead.
Would much rather have spent 16m on Eze.
Is this something from Star Trek? Why would signing reguilon mean that we couldn't play the 4/3 system that Jose favours
Why do you think our scouting team and manager don't agree with you ?
The evidence ! And I still dont always agree with them !

Why Pochettino has spent £30m on Sissoko
Spurs have been lacking pace in wide areas, and after missing out on Wilfried Zaha, Moussa Sissoko became the next big target to provide thatwww.independent.co.uk
Well would you after that explanation ?
And if he doesn't make the grade, that'll be why we passed on him. Hindsight is 20:20.
How many times have you seen him play?
Just want to know why you think he has potential.
No he's not, I'm just trying to understand his thoughts on why we should take a punt. What are you asking him for you fucking dildo, he's not a professional scout is he?
There is neither going to be a LB nor a DM signing in all probability, there are enough options on paper in both positions . A back-up to Kane seems quite unlikely too since Son has been prolific.
Doherty could be our penultimate signing
It would be amazing if N'dombele is sold and a Grealish-deal is struck in the dying minutes of the window.
