Probably on massive wages and guaranteed silverware and CL to finally break the duck - maybe not so crazy for 1-2 seasons
Yeah, The Russian league is supposed to pay well. And the quality of living where you'd expect him to end up living is going to be top notch. And as you said, Zenit are a powerhouse in that league so he should be able to break his trophy drought.

Wherever he ends up he needs to prove himself a winner and get some silver wear to cement himself as a top coach. Zenit this could happen, PSG another good option. Man City? Probably.

He's a smart bloke and I think he knows this. I believe this is the main reason he hasn't ended up at Old Trafford. Yet...

Don’t see why he’d go to Zenit when you’d think he’d be near the top of the list for of the top jobs in Europe.

I imagine he wants Real Madrid or another Premier League job. Ligue 1 is a pub league so I can’t see him desperate for the PSG job. I can see Guardiola being given the chop at the end of the season which’ll open the door for a move to Al-Citeh with a mammoth transfer budget and a squad needing a rebuild in his image.

The longer he’s out of work, the harder it is to get those jobs. You don’t want to become a forgotten man.

If he does go to Zenit, I hope he wins stuff for a couple of seasons then goes to a big club (like Barca / PSG etc).

Those jobs have to come open first before he can be offered them and some might be tough situations where he could end up looking bad even if he does a decent job.

RM for example looks like it could be in a very tricky situation with having a lot of old players and not much youth there to replace them. While you always will have money to buy guys, I think that might take a couple of years to replace everything they need- which is basically a whole new MF and a new striker, with issues at CB as well. Plus, I think the president there is pretty hands on which can be an issue for managers especially when trying to rebuild.

City, I think isn't in the same situation where they need a squad overhaul because of lack of talent but I think things have gotten pretty stale there and the players may be getting a little complacent. Maybe a new manager/approach is enough to change that but they probably need a few new players upfront and on the backline. Money is likely never an issue but they have spent a ton on the backline already, will they spend even more to get it to where they need it?

PSG is likely the best job potentially opening, in terms of squad stability and make-up. I don't think there is much needed to change that squad up, But it is also the least likely to open up. Yes Tuchel is a dick and awful to work with but he got to the finals of the CL so probably bought himself some time with that. Risky to wait for that job to open.

Zenit doesn't make a ton of sense in terms of its profile and location, but it could be a safe holding spot where he can have success, prove that he is still a good coach and not really risk losing his "shine." I think beyond needing to coach to keep his name out there, he likely wants to manage personally. I don't think many guys like to sit out and he likely really wanted to get back into it so this provides him with a good chance to do it.

Just watched youtube highlights of our victory at Ajax and the reactions at the end of the game.

Made me cry watching Poch again, how I miss him.
