Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I agree about the 5 subs, but I think the 9 man bench is a great idea. It means all clubs can cover all positions pretty much on their bench, and it also gives a chance for younger players in some cases to get on the bench. I just wish it was even more, like 11. They could even make a stipulation that 2 or 3 have to be U23's or club trained or something.

All clubs have 22+ squads and every week means leaving some of them out completely, why not allow them to name an 11 man bench (like they do in Italy) at least squads are involved and managers have more tactical choice.

....And whom is best furnished to benefit from a bench that allows for potentially 2 WC players in every position?

Reading through the recent posts:

why do some people assume we will a trophy with JM bcos his a serial winner and with this type of football? Who has recently won anything with this type of football apart from
Leicester ? There is no gaurantee!
.......Everyone keeps going on about being top or 2nd but there is so few points in it that it doesn’t really matter if your 2nd or 5th one point behind.
Manure will be above us if they win their game in hand and yet everyone has been slating OGS yet Maureen is producing masterclasses? If we don’t beat Leicester we could drop out the top 4!
His tactics and subs in the last 2 games have been completely shocking almost a bottle job he needs to show more balls. I’m sure we could have beaten palace and at least got a draw with pool if he did.
If we are top playing palace and pool why do we play like underdogs as if we are bottom of the league and show virtually zero ambition.
This type of football is even worse than Pauli’s and big Sam I’m their prime. Most on here would have slated them big time but have now sold their soul in the hope he wins a trophy.
We are a better team than the football we play which is the worst thing!
If we are going to park the bus at least make it hard for the oppo to get balls into the box stop crosses etc. Look at the build up to the corner last night we just let hendo run through but no one challenges him.
We play a game by numbers I.e. just having bodies back but no one actually engages with the oppo especially sissoko who just points. Last night that’s all he did!
Some of the following need to go davies, sissoko, dier who was appealing with his passing and clearances, Lucas yo name a few.
we could have won that game if we could string two passes together which is another indictment of Maureen and his coaching . We have no idea how to control the game or keep possesion. Best to prevent the oppo scoring is by preventing them having the ball but we just give it away so cheaply and normally when under no pressure. Davies in the 2nd half gave the ball away 3 times in quick susccession.
Apologies fir long post could go on for ever but ....

Conte's Chelsea = EPL champs
Ranieri's Leicester = EPL champs
Simeone's Atletico = Overcame the stranglehold of Barca AND RM to win a job lot.

...And most importantly; MOURINHO!!! :mourshock:

I don't really think extending the bench size makes too much difference if you keep the subs allowed to 3. All the best resourced sides are going to have at least 3 quality options, the further down the bench they go it only weakens those three options not makes the likelihood of them being stronger.

But having an extended bench means all clubs can now back up all positions on the pitch, instead of having to choose between having a back up RB or a back up CM or a specialist player and a more versatile one. And as I said, it might mean younger players and fringe players feel part of the match day and more chance of getting some minutes.

Yet you've just spent your last post and the 2nd half of this one explaining the benefit of it. :avbcringe:

I genuinely can’t stand to see you on our beautiful Forum

Fuck off!
Why because I have an opinion. Grow up man child. Also getting abusive because I don't agree with you or you dont agree with me is pathetic.
This is a forum is it not and if you cannot understand that then maybe you should be the one to leave, here is the definition of a forum just in case you got confused into thinking that this was just your messaging service...

That’s true but you’re going way OTT and pretty soon a lot of posters will ignore you!

He has to understand how football is played or gtfo. Especially if he does not understand counter attacking football, because Mourinho will stay for years. Imagine him in this forum for another 3-4 years complaining about how we are playing despite winning trophies :roflmao: Will be pathetic!

:mourear:
Tried to tell him but he just doesn’t get it mate

Fair points. I'm not being aggressive or abusive mate. Or purposely trying to upset anyone.
I just do not like the way mourinho sets teams up to destroy rather than create.
I was not keen on him coming to us, but he's here and that's that. Maybe his supposed magic will rub off on us and we will start to win trophies, but I'm not convinced . I really hope I'm wrong, the chances of that are extremely high if you go off how many times my missus tells me I'm wrong .

Credit to you for that post.

I don't agree with your views on Jose, however you seem open to being proven wrong. Something we all have to learn.

The tendency of this forum to gang up on and use abusive language towards anyone with an unpopular opinion is really disgusting.

You lot done it a LOT to anyone who doesn't want to fall in line with the current order of things at the club. Wanting a more flowing, attacking style, even being a "style absolutist" is a valid position. No one has to accept Mourinho, that is their individual prerogative.

You can't even criticise our better players for real weaknesses they do have. There's the cult of lord Bale, who simply won't accept that Bale hasn't actually done anything for us, and on the balance of evidence that's unlikely to change.

It's one thing to logically argue things out, but another to call them racist, "not a real fan", "moaner" "emotinally unstable" etc etc etc.

I've noticed that a lot of the same people going on about how disgusting it was that Bergwijn was getting so much abuse do the same to users on this site.

Radical Rei Radical Rei , nigel6305 bus-conductor bus-conductor Igula Igula are some of the ones I've seen here get absolute dog's abuse. In contrast, I've not seen them be nearly as abusive back (well, except bus-conductor on the topic of Sissoko).

Just cos you have the majority of the site behind you doesn't give you the right to act a cunt.

No...I just find his football boring and very un watchable.
If any other team played like this you would not want to watch those games and you would probably be giving them plenty of stick. We all have before it was us playing like this...

I do think for most Spurs fans defensive football is not what we are known and admired for. And what has made us love the club over the years.

Most neutral fans I know will say they have enjoyed watching Spurs as literally anything can happen.

So it’s a big departure to be where we are now.

I can see where you are coming from. Personally I’m just on the train for the journey. If it leads to silverware then it’s acheived it’s purpose.

If we then become a counter attacking based team for the next three decades that will really surprise me tbh. And I’d love to see what someone like Ledley would do if he managed us having been around so many different managers and playing styles.
