Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We need to settle for some kind of middle ground between the defensive solidity we have showcased as of late. And the high octane attacks we showcased early in the season.

Jose's Madrid should be the blueprint and the team that the players study in tape sessions.

but Ozil , Xavi Alonso and Lassana Diarra were able to do more than 3 pass together to provide Ronaldo .
Yesterday night , it was panic panic during the first half time , it was more a remake Barça - Inter 😭 without Cambiasso , Motta , Sneijder , Stankovic .
José will need 1 or 2 seasons to build the perfect team ..

Flexibility of choice vs circumstances of the game.

What's the most reliable to get you out of a fix? .....The swiss army knife with 7 tools on it or the one with 9?

I agree about the 5 subs, but I think the 9 man bench is a great idea. It means all clubs can cover all positions pretty much on their bench, and it also gives a chance for younger players in some cases to get on the bench. I just wish it was even more, like 11. They could even make a stipulation that 2 or 3 have to be U23's or club trained or something.

All clubs have 22+ squads and every week means leaving some of them out completely, why not allow them to name an 11 man bench (like they do in Italy) at least squads are involved and managers have more tactical choice.

No...I just find his football boring and very un watchable.
If any other team played like this you would not want to watch those games and you would probably be giving them plenty of stick. We all have before it was us playing like this...
I like it. Always did. Not just in Jose´s teams.

Defensive philosophies made History in football as much as - if not more than - offensive ones.

And by the way, attacking teams are not necessarily examples of good football. And you don´t need to look at Norwich, for example, to see it. Do you think United 0 x 0 City was a good football match to watch? How about City 1 x 0 Woolwich, the match between master and apprentice of beautiful football? One of the worst games of the season, if you ask me.

It´s a tremendous lack of imagination to think this beautiful game in terms of right and wrong.

Interesting that you mentioned Barça vs Inter to describe our first half against Liverpool. You´re probably thinking about the second leg, at the Camp Nou. But I think the first leg would actually make a better comparison. At half-time, the result was the same (1x1); Barcelona scored the first goal, Inter equalized from a quick counter. Inter mostly defended in the first 45 minutes, but they were very aggressive in the second part of the game (it was a deliberate choice to apply pressure and attack in specific moments). That first leg ended 3-1 for the "defensive" team, as the game last 90 minutes, and not just 45. And the result at San Siro allowed Inter to play defensive football at the Camp Nou - after Thiago Motta was sent off at minute 20, by the way.

Now, we attacked and counter attacked Liverpool more than enough to hurt them in that second half - we should have scored at least two more times; Bergwijn hit the post and Kane made a rare mistake in front of Alisson (missed a simple header from the six-yard box). We lost this game because we were not clinical when we attacked - but we did attack, just like Inter did (in the first leg). It´s not really about Cambiasso or Motta - Hojbjerg could perfectly play in that Inter team, I promise you. If you want to compare, we lost it because when the chances to score came, we had Bergwijn (who I love) instead of Milito/Pandev/Eto´o.

Jose might be a lot more furious about last night than he let on in the post-match interviews...

That’s a good thing isn’t it? for all Pochettino’s qualities temperament etc he always gave you the impression that well we “lost“ so that’s it......shit happen if Mourinho is seething then team should be too! complacency towards the end was a major issue under Poch.

Reading through the recent posts:

why do some people assume we will a trophy with JM bcos his a serial winner and with this type of football? Who has recently won anything with this type of football apart from
Leicester ? There is no gaurantee!
Everyone keeps going on about being top or 2nd but there is so few points in it that it doesn’t really matter if your 2nd or 5th one point behind.
Manure will be above us if they win their game in hand and yet everyone has been slating OGS yet Maureen is producing masterclasses? If we don’t beat Leicester we could drop out the top 4!
His tactics and subs in the last 2 games have been completely shocking almost a bottle job he needs to show more balls. I’m sure we could have beaten palace and at least got a draw with pool if he did.
If we are top playing palace and pool why do we play like underdogs as if we are bottom of the league and show virtually zero ambition.
This type of football is even worse than Pauli’s and big Sam I’m their prime. Most on here would have slated them big time but have now sold their soul in the hope he wins a trophy.
We are a better team than the football we play which is the worst thing!
If we are going to park the bus at least make it hard for the oppo to get balls into the box stop crosses etc. Look at the build up to the corner last night we just let hendo run through but no one challenges him.
We play a game by numbers I.e. just having bodies back but no one actually engages with the oppo especially sissoko who just points. Last night that’s all he did!
Some of the following need to go davies, sissoko, dier who was appealing with his passing and clearances, Lucas yo name a few.
we could have won that game if we could string two passes together which is another indictment of Maureen and his coaching . We have no idea how to control the game or keep possesion. Best to prevent the oppo scoring is by preventing them having the ball but we just give it away so cheaply and normally when under no pressure. Davies in the 2nd half gave the ball away 3 times in quick susccession.
Apologies fir long post could go on for ever but ....

Wow..did you think of that one on your own...
Listen if you love mourinho so much then fine, but i stick to my opinions like a grown man with his own mind. When mourinho was at Chelsea and united I disliked him and did not enjoy watching his teams play, nothing has changed. Not even the fact he is now at my club, I don't like boring defensive football, and his way of making us sit behind the ball against shit like palace.
Let's see how much you love him when he falls out with most of the squad has a tantrum and we don't win the league.....I will still be saying what I have said about him all along...

We lose this fixture most years with the occasional draw and even rarer win. We can be the better team, dominate pocession and still lose. I knew we would not have much of the ball but Mourinho has us more organised and well it could work. That unlucky goal and here we go again, going to lose. We equalised which because they were still showing a replay, could not fully appreciate at first showing. Got to half time and still in it. 2nd half was very different and so much better and really disappointed we could not get a 2nd or even 3rd. Liverpool only had a few tame attempts and started to believe. As usual not to be but whilst first half poor, the 2nd half was so much better and if we can give that sort of performance away to the Champions then the future is good. Not sure the blame game for Mourinho or players is right yesterday but after dropping 5 points this week we must win Sunday.
