Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Said it time and time again.

A very clever man who was once a great manager and will rightly go down as one of the best. It cannot be taken away from him.

But this man puts fear into players and the reason he did so well at Chelsea first time round is because there were players there who could stand up to him (in terjs of voping with his demands) and who were bloody good as well.

Can you imagine them getting turned over by Liverpool last night? Not a chance because they were better but because they were tougher in every aspect.

Mourinho has players at our club who are sh!t scared of him
That is why they cannot produce the goods or their best, with only one or two exceptions.

He needs to go.

Pep does the same thing in terms of details, but they are the complete opposite in how they create and prevent chances, so I don't think it's the style as much as the substance.

It's maddening that he expects an average defense to be stellar 90 minutes every week, while Son/Kane need to finish 100% of their chances in order for us to win.
And teams play attacking football also spent crazy amount on defenders!

There is no getting away without the right personnel. There is no magical tactical that can cover for lack of quality in personnel.

Jose will be the EPL winning manager 2021-22.
We will win at least one trophy this season.
He is doing a fantastic job with the players he has available.

I don't think Levy gives one squirt of piss for the League Cup. FA Cup may be a different story, but he's not going to keep Mou around just so he can coach the League Cup final in April.

I think Levy wants to deliver this club a trophy.

And that's one of the biggest reasons he brought Mourinho in. A manager who's won trophies everywhere he's gone and a manager who has won a trophy in his first full season at EVERY club he's ever managed.

I just can't see him sacking a manager when we are still in all the cups and a final in the bank - MAYBE if we get knocked out by Wolfsberger and Everton next month and our league form continues to dwindle he might think about it.

But I think he's hanging all his hopes on Mourinho bringing a trophy in this season and personally, I think that's the reason he brought Mourinho to the club instead of bringing in a fresh young manager.

If he doesn't win us a trophy this season, it will be VERY interesting to see what happens in the summer. Does he back him once again and continue to make this his team? Or does he cut his losses, get rid of him and get in a manager who can bring back entertaining football to Spurs again?

Poch took average players and made them good to great.

Mou takes average players and at best they stay average.

Don't tell me managers can't make teams better, otherwise what's the point of them.

Let's say I agree Mourinho need to go.

The issue with the same players staying with us remain. Poch friendly approach didn't work either. You still need to rid of these players while spending to bring in the players with the right mentality.

I think someone once said "Mourinho doesn't improve players, he improves teams".

And in all honesty, based on this season. He's improved the team. We are 4 points better off than we were last season, in a cup final and still in two other cups.

Which average players look great under Poch?

Sissoko, Lamela, Winks, Aurier, Lucas, Davies, Dier...?

Or it is the case of when star aligning, and you get a team of players of great potential clicking. Once some of them declining, even Poch himself struggled to replace them.

It's probably the hardest of the 3 cups to win TBH. You've got some decent teams coming in after the CL group stages so it's by no means a given. I saw somewhere, we were favorites and i think that is extremely optimistic.

There's just a lot of games isn't there.

8 games just to get to the final. Whilst playing midweek in between Premier League games. I don't think we have any hope of the Europa League either tbh and certainly won't be getting excited until we perhaps get to the quarter final stage but even then, that's 4 games away.

At this point though, I'm not even confident we'll get passed Everton in the FA Cup.

Levys aim is the top and rightly or wrongly he thought Mourinho was the guy to get us there - league cup or not if he decides that's no longer the case then it's curtains for Jose

Ive been backing him all year but cant defend the substitutions tonight. Terrible calls and read the game totally wrong. Moving tanguy up the field was a diaster. Thought the 1st half went ok till our keeper and defence went to sleep but the second half was an absolute shitshow from the kick off. Our defence is shocking and apart from peh no pressing or pressure out the field. No pressure on a 2nd/3rd choice defensive pairing or 2nd choice midfield. Embarrassing
Disallusioned tonight. Dont know where we go after that one.
But used to it as a spurs fan. hey ho roll on sunday🤷‍♂️

Mourinho was essentially brought in to win the League Cup. He’s a bit behind the curve on that front though as George Graham and Juande Ramos both came in mid season in October and both had lifted the League Cup within 4 months by the end of the following February. I suppose we had already been knocked out of the League Cup by Colchester by the time he took over last season.

Redknapp and Pochettino also got to cup finals in their first seasons.

Let's hope Mourinho can do what they couldn't.
