Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Are people seriously trying to blame this on Jose not having enough players?

LOL

There is definitely a need to add more to the midfield and move out some dead weight but a lot of that dead weight are Jose favorites and when we had the players, Lo Celso, Jose refused to play them because he needed Sissoko in there doing nothing.

While the players are a issue the are far from the issue. The only thing that letting Jose buy more guys would do is make the rebuild longer after he is gone because we won't be able to move out the crap that he wants in.

At CB Fofana has been one of the top CB's in the league this year, any chance that Jose brings in a guy like that? He wanted Maguire and Lindelof at United and got them, we don't need those kind of guys here.

We need ball movement in our midfield. Jose's favorites at United were Fellani, McTominay and Matic. At Spurs he loves Sissoko and Moura. The chances we get a ball moving player we need are basically zero.

Jose has shown zero indication that even with better players he would have the team playing a style that is successful. We are stuck with him for at least this season and maybe more because of Levy, lets not make that time even worse by wasting money on the cloggers Jose loves to make this team even more dreadful to watch with the same zero success.

This is a fair point you make but I'd ask why would you give him something when he's done nothing, and I mean nothing, to show that he's improved or is succeeding with what he already has? Investing further would suggest satisfaction with how htings are going.
He took over the club in 14th finished 6th last season. We are still active in all cup competitions and already in LC final, and, still well within reach of top 4 (was top of table for a while).

You cant compete effectively without quality players, and even if we get a new manager, he would still require those quality players.

I was staggered he didn't put Vinnie on when Kane went off.

I've never been anti Jose like some but I'm losing patience now with some weird ass tactics and substitutions. The guy has been so lucky we've had no fans at football grounds

I won't be unhappy if we have a new manager in the summer. Problem is I don't trust Levy to appoint the right man
Levy is a tight arse.Richer version of Mike Ashley likes playing in the 20-40 million market.Ndombele the exception.Unfortuately you get what u pay for unless u have the best scouting team in the world

I think Levy wants to deliver this club a trophy.

And that's one of the biggest reasons he brought Mourinho in. A manager who's won trophies everywhere he's gone and a manager who has won a trophy in his first full season at EVERY club he's ever managed.

I just can't see him sacking a manager when we are still in all the cups and a final in the bank - MAYBE if we get knocked out by Wolfsberger and Everton next month and our league form continues to dwindle he might think about it.

But I think he's hanging all his hopes on Mourinho bringing a trophy in this season and personally, I think that's the reason he brought Mourinho to the club instead of bringing in a fresh young manager.

If he doesn't win us a trophy this season, it will be VERY interesting to see what happens in the summer. Does he back him once again and continue to make this his team? Or does he cut his losses, get rid of him and get in a manager who can bring back entertaining football to Spurs again?
Levy is a better version of Mike Ashley😬😬😬

You nailed in the main problem is Levy a rich mans Mike Ashley.Other then Ndombele won’t go over the low 40 million mark. You get what you pay for unless u have the best scouting team in the world.

In saying that why in the hell didn’t he bring on Bale at half time.If you asked Klopp and co would they rather face Lamela or Bale who do u think they would say😬😬😬

Sounds and quacks like Aussie Ardiles aka Jd2010.

I think someone once said "Mourinho doesn't improve players, he improves teams".

And in all honesty, based on this season. He's improved the team. We are 4 points better off than we were last season, in a cup final and still in two other cups.
His average based over 38 games last season was 66 pts. This season to date its 66 pts. The cups, who have we played? Chelsea on pens was good but not 1 other prem or prem level team. You can only beat whats in front of you so fair play but not sure that can be used for a barometer of success as yet. 4 home league wins out of 10.....9 pts from the last 8 games. Lets not forget Poch was sacked after 14 pts from 12 games, Redknapp after he finished 4th. Add in the dreadful football and its not good enough, if we'd appointed say Moyes, Hughton or Eddie Howe November 19 and had the exact same results and performances they'd be staring down the barrel by now.

We were 4 points off 6th last season when he arrived, after 12 (?) games.

Still in 3 cups, having played 1 team of PL quality across all the competitions

We're as close to 4th as we are 11th (half the season played) and being top only counts for anything if it's end of the season.

Just to add a little context to the list of achievements that get trotted out as though anything on there is a sign of a manager doing a good job

There was a time when the previous squad was barely good enough (probably peaked around 2017, with Kane injury free for the most part, Dele still in great form, Dembele, prime Toby, Eriksen etc), but either side they were never really good enough and needed all the kind of luck that Leicester got.

For the current squad, if everyone was healthy for most of the season, top 4 should be guaranteed, but that's about it. There is just a lack of quality and depth, that the margin of error is extremely low.

The current squad is still short 2-3 top quality players and about 5-6 core rotation players overall of a PL title challenger.

A genuine good manager on the way up or at his peak can bridge that gap in quality.

Maybe that's fair in an ordinary season (no. of players short to challenge) when teams like City and Liverpool are at their peak but this season is looking like the Leicester one so it's there for an outsider to play their way in and Mourinho has us underperforming to our level so we aren't even in the conversation.

He has not imprinted anything on this team in 15 months other than the super low block against top teams (which doesn't even work any more) if he didn't come with the name and rep. you'd think he was a chancer

People defending Mourinho say it is the players and that nobody would be able to get a tune out of them because they are not good enough. However the starting 11 that he put out last night are all full internationals with over 500 caps between them. Several are amongst the first names on the team sheet for their national teams (Son, Kane, Lloris, Hojbjerg). All of the outfield starters are the right side of 30 and should be in their prime. That performance last night especially the second half was appalling. They looked clueless, uncoached and appeared to give up. That I am afraid is on Mourinho and simply not good enough. This season is probably the worst football I have seen us play in 40 years.

Which Leicester have proved can be done to a certain degree . So he won’t spend the money and in twenty plus years Levy has failed miserably on the scouting. However we have fantastic facilities for our under par scouting finds to perfect their averageness

Spot on. I think uncoached is the telling point. I'd also say petrified of the opposition, which we seem to be in every game. When its caution first at home to the likes of Fulham you know you have a problem. This is now up there with AVB's 2nd season in terms of the quality of football.

Ineffective, defensive boreshit. Mourinho always set up with defensive boreshit, but it used to be very effective or you need world class players in every position to win the league, which we don't have. Football has moved on.

If last night's team tips up in April against City we will get smashed around Wembley like a dog with a chew toy. As said, who have we played in the cups? Chelsea, who have just sacked Lampard for being out of his depth.
