Had some time to think about it, and reflect.

Even if they sack Jose now or later, it doesn't change the fact that this team/squad is mentally weak to the core.
Taking Jose's negative football aside for a moment, I can see that he has tried to fire our players up, we've had players going at each other in the dressing room, Lloris and Son last year, Dier jumping in the stands, and all the rumours surrounding the Aurier bust up.
But the tough love approach from Jose just hasn't worked, I don't think you can turn people into winners, they either have that in them or they don't.

So while I'm firmly aboard the Jose out train because of the boring football we are playing, it's not going to get much better with a new manager, we might get the smiles back on faces and a bit of champagne football and playing with that Tottenham swagger, which is something at least.

But we will still have that soft underbelly, Spursy waiting to surface.

I think ultimately it just comes down to the wages we pay and the quality of players we tend to go for.

And that won't change unless we get Oil Baron rich or have paid off the stadium debt.
That's why I see Ten Haag as our best option.

A manager capable of dealing with upheaval and rebuilding a team to a consistent level.

I think any new manager should come with a whole new football set up. We need to start again. Almost another Arnesen/Jol scenario. We're in a better situation than then though with some top players and a couple of good youngsters coming back from loan in the summer. Again Mourinho isnt the man for a rebuild and never was, its just short term sticking plasters.

Yet that doesn’t explain why the players that ARE playing aren’t performing as well as we know they can more often
I don't belive a lot of of them ARE capabable though. That's a huge part of our problem.

We've been in declne since our last season at the lane.
Lost Walker, prime Rose, Jan and Toby aged/gone, Dembele/Wanyama gone, Dele phased out, Prime Eriksen gone
In their place we've been relying on any of Aurier, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Dier, Sanchez etc.
It's depressing how badly we have let one of the best squads we've ever had rot to what we have now.

I think my gut feeling was that somewhere during the 2nd half of the Liverpol game was the exact point where Kane likely decided we aren't competetive enough for him anymore.

This could well be it for him at Spurs now.

Last night was the worst I’ve ever seen us I think, it was like some lads won a “Play the Fans competition” where they got to try out against Brighton’s first team

Sorry but there’s a pattern emerging here, and it seems to be a culture of:

don’t like the training? Stop performing
don’t like the tactics? Stop trying

The players need to have a long hard look in the mirror.

Poch and Jose have flaws, but NO manager orders shit like that
that's the most irritating thing for me, you could see a general lack of effort yesterday.

Brighton were flying into tackles, hassling and harassing us from the first minute, we played like sulky teenagers who just got grounded.

These are supposed to be fucking professionals. If I downed tools at work I'd be sacked.

This is part of my disconnect with football because you see this shit happening all the time when players don't like a manager.

Not defending Jose or his negative brand of football but needs pointing out what a bunch of prima donna cunts our players are.

Maybe it’s been remarked upon already, but was just reading there that after last night, Brighton’s last three home wins in the league were in three different calendar years, 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Jose has no idea what to do without Kane. its just hoof it long , hope Kane holds it up and then Son run behinds.

Amazing that tactic has worked so long given its so predictable.

I'm embarrassed that that's our only tactic.

By the way what other top 6 team would've done what happened last night.

yes sometimes you can lose these games but we were completly out-played.
Fed up.

We played like a team who didn't give a shit or were worried about getting injured or booked. It reminded me the old days when you'd have a league game midweek, before a big cup game.
Holbjerg is the only player who can hold his head up high imho. The only one that looked like he actually gave a shit. I think some of these players think because they have reached a final, that's it,job done.
Not a lot we can do to change things at present. Whichever side of the fence you fall you have to accept it's doubtful Jose is going anywhere and no new players are coming in.I would make Holbjerg captain from immediate effect though. Team captain, let Lloris keep the club captain role if they so wish. But have Pierre as team leader match day on the pitch.

Stevie P and Robbo must be looking at that and putting their heads in their hands or kicking things in disgust.
I couldn't even get annoyed after the game last night, just contempt for most of those charletans that embarrass our shirt.
Fuck football! I am binge watching Midsomer Murders all week, INCLUDING Thursday...

Lots of toys going out of prams in threads all over the place here. Through thick and thin, no?

...glad we don't have support like some of this in the stadium. The booing would really gee them up. 2 losses in a row (one vs. Liverpool and with injury issues) and it's fucking panic stations. Ridiculous IMO.
Fair point but the long suffering among us need a bit of thick to go with all that thin, I can't even remember what glory glory tastes like.

We're not a good footballing side and haven't been for a long long time.

It brought Poch's time to an end and has not improved under Jose.

A new project is required and a complete squad overhaul imo. Kane will probably be gone this summer so lets hope we invest a bit more wisely than we did after selling our last star player.

Poor tactics, personnel choices, formations and sub choices (at times) don't help. Last night, they looked like they had no idea who was playing where or runs where....
Managerial flaws aside, do we really want a team of players who can’t function with colleagues they train with 300 days a year?

Or players that will NOT play that easy through pass because the manager (supposedly) asked them to whack it 70 meters back to Lloris?

I touched on it yesterday but a prime Bale got pissed off, broke ranks, disobeyed tactics, ran 40 yards and put the ball in the top corner when things weren’t working.

I don’t want “world class” players playing like non league players because they are too scared to think for themselves

Come one mate we’ve seen them beat City and Utd this very season

Genuine question, as I didn't watch the game.
What was Bales contribution like? I notice he was subbed
Did he step on from his performance against Wycombe
Lucky you!

He was largely anonymous, barely broke out of a jog, didn't get near any of their players and when he did get the ball he tried a couple of difficult passes and both times failed to execute.
Not our worst player in fairness, but you could see when he was hauled off that he couldn't wait to come off, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if he was signalling to the bench that he wanted to come off.

His legs just aren't there anymore and I think he will retire soon, reminds me a bit of Michael Owen did it all early in his career and then lost interest.

I actually think the midfield is the problem and no link between midfield and attack. Would like a player in there who can take on defenders as well. Ndombele has come good in recent weeks but lets be honest since hes arrived we havent been great and already chatting to his mate mbappe. No possession and cohesion in midfield.
