Management In search of Mourinho's successor.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Why? We can afford to pay 15M a year, that's one of the highest wages any manager in the world is on.

Plenty of good managers will come her for that kind of dough. Just a question of finding one of them.
we can afford to pay 15m per year before COVID 19 hit everyone. Surely we are now short of cash just like most EPL team so i don't see any chance of jose mourinho getting sacked since we have to pay him a lot if we do

Surprised no one has mentioned Ten Hag with what his golden generation almost did at Ajax. He’d be much better at bringing Sess, Cirkin, White, Skipp and Parrott through than the current dinosaur.
de Boer effect, maybe?

To be honest I don't think our academy products are up to the task of the next step up. May find a place in/around the squad, or get sold to add to the kitty.

People seriously requesting Redknapp need to get their nostalgia goggles off.

He's been retired from football management for over 7 years. The game has past him by more than it has Jose, particularly management.

At least get someone that is actually involved with the sport in.

Kjetil Knutsen would be a fantastic choice, his football philosophy suits Spurs perfectly. To dare is to do
I think you need to explain who he is. Knutsen just won the league in Norway with mindblowing goalscoring attacking football. A bit like Graham Potter he might be destined for a bigger league soon.

Bodø-Glimt can be argued to have had the best season of any Norwegian team in the top flight through all times. Fantastic football.

Still, I don't know if we should be the ones taking on that risk.

Robbie Keane caretaker manager with Ledley as his assistant.
Poetry in motion watching those two lead us to our first cup glory after 2008. Roy of the (Shamrock) Rovers stuff of legend.

The Ajax man in the summer.

I’m pretty sure everyone talking about Redknapp only means until the end of the season as an interim.

I wouldn't even give him that. He's retired. He's been removed from the game for 7 years.

Even an interim manager is expected to come in and steady the ship. There are names available that have worked within the game in that time period.

To bring in Redknapp, even as interim, is showing negative ambition. It does not send the right signals for me.

Yep. Love Harry but he's not been involved at this level for a long while now. The PL really is a weekly challenge, most clubs have very good players and somewhat sophisticated ways of playing the game, definitely more so than 10 years ago imo. I really don't mean to put down Harry but it would be a poor appointment after the first game or two imo.

Just need to get in the best possible coach willing to take the job on an interim basis, we're not privy to that information without reaching out in the proper channels. Can always be open to making the appointment permanent if it's a good fit. Quique Setien maybe, speaks English. I dunno, it's a tough one but we have to get rid asap to salvage this season, still an outside chance of top 4.

for the second half of the season I think we simply need a motivater and that will be enough to get us going. Someone that can unite the squad and get the best out of players like Dele simply by the way he speaks to them. Sometimes thats enough short term.

This really isn’t that difficult. The criteria is Who is in a certain size of club overachieving relative to expectations Whilst having a positive style of play using mostly younger players? We take it from there.

The thing is. I don't think that Harry Redknapp would be able to properly motivate this squad. It's a different breed of athlete compared to the ones that he coached. Different mindsets and approaches to the game.

Ultra professional and ultra competitive Harry Kane is not going to respond to "Just have a runabout lads". Harry's Spurs was a combination of the island of misfit toys, scrappy cast offs from bigger clubs and lower table stalwarts. Where as now we have built a team that is used to playing in Europe and filled with not only established internationals, but national team captains.

I just think that Harry's idea of motivation and coaching would not click with them. In a scenario where he does get the job I would be happy to be proven wrong. But I don't see it. Better to get someone more in tune with the modern day footballer instead of Niko Krankjcar.

If we're being totally honest, it needs to be someone they can respect the character of. I think this is the problem with this team, they have lost their cause almost. They can see through all the little tricks mourinho will be pulling to get a reaction and it's not working. Half probably miss Poch, the new guys find it hard to get an identity in a team lost themselves.

The talent is there, Jose is just not it.

We need a new project and I think fans seem to be in unison which is why they're talking about Redknapp etc. Because we need some life back into the squad.

We need to look for a new Poch, we hit heights under him, it imploded and we need to start again. Jose was the experienced last roll of the dice to cling on to the heights we reached but its failed and we need a new edge.

You look and think realistically someone young, then you have the other side someone like Bielsa, would Levy go for him considering his age or is that what we need?

Eddie Howe would likely be a candidate for me but it could cost us any pulling power in certain players, plus whether the players buy into him.

Wouldn't be shocked if it ends up being Howe at all

I also think that it may end up being Howe. I could see the board and ownership seeing him as a similar gamble that they took on Poch back in the day.
