Ex-Spurs Player Giovani Lo Celso

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Depends.

Some people saw him as the Eriksen replacement

He's more a deep lying playmaker more of an 8 than a 10.

So we shouldn't expect too much G/A

I think, seeing what he done at Betis, we should expect more from him.

He has only played 892 minutes this season, which is the equivalent of about 10 games and he's had a hand in 6 goals so if he can keep that up and keep fit- he's going to be very useful.

I must admit, I loved him in central midfield against Liverpool, capped off with a fine assist too. However he then got injured in the next game and funnily enough our form has dipped considerably, probably due to the lack of depth and cover he provided for when others got tired or replaced (Ndombele)

The players I've listed are instrumental to the immediate future of our club. They are in my honest opinion the only players close to keeping us a top 6 let alone top 4 club. This means over the next few TW we need to find upgrades for thirteen players and find a coach who can player progressive attacking football in line with our heritage. That is massive churn and worse I don't think most supporters trust the football judgement of the people in place to make these choices.

Hoijberge
Reguilon
N'dombele
Lo Celso
Skipp
Tanganga
Aurier (sold after 1.5 years)
One of Kane or Son
Rodon

If Lo Celso comes back properly fit from injury this season, he will make a big difference.

Next season, if we add Sabizer and Skipp comes back from loan, then I think we should be able to rotate so that we don't have the problem of tired legs we have today.

I see the preferred midfield then as being Ndombele. Hojbjerg and Sabitzer, but in practice it wouldn't surprise me if we have other combinations such as Lo Celso for Sabitzer sometimes and even Skipp playing at the same time as Hojbjerg sometimes.

Just so many combinations potentially next season

However atm its pick any 3 from Ndombele, Hojbjerg, Sissoko and Winks......and no wonder any combination seems to look tired and laboured sometimes. One good reason why Lo Celso back would make a big difference

Possibly wrong thread ?

Delighted to see he’s on the way back.

Really hope he’s fully healed when he does return though. So far he’s had to look of a player that you’re afraid is going to have to go off every time he goes down in a match. A bit “Sandro Esque”.

Great player though and will add a lot for us.

A little worried Gio and Bale getting back in the team might help our results creep to a point Levy finds acceptable. He'll be doing so much mental gymnastics to justify not sacking Mourinho, and whatever few results we scrape over the next few weeks the guy is just plainly not up to it anymore.

The press seems to have gotten into Jose's head now. So even with Gio and Bale getting back into the side I think his days are numbered. Once the press gets into his head it only goes one way.

Everyone talking about him like he's some pass master...but he's really not.

Good in tight spaces and runs with the ball well from deep, but I haven't seen anything to suggest he's got the creativity and vision of a Christian Eriksen.

Oh and he's so one-footed it's almost painful to watch.
Play him. Anywhere

he’s a decent footballer and comfortable on the ball unlike so many of our other players

It won't get us into to top 4 and if Levy is fine with two years out of top 4 and CL then he likely would have been fine with almost any result.

It is clear as day no matter who comes back that Jose isn't good enough. At this point the only things that save Jose's job are the cost to replace him/buy him out and/or Levy's crush on him.

GLC will be a welcome return but he can't do much if Jose sits him on the bench and can't do much if Jose continues to preach negative, negative, negative football.

I really rate him, moves with the ball well at feet, doesnt look backwards, likes a slide rule pass, not afraid to get stuck in. A better version of Lamela with the same amount of injury problems, unfortunately.

Would be over the moon to see this actually pan out as others have mentioned

Hojbjerg
N'Dombele - Lo Celso (switching positions every now and then)

Bale - Kane - Son

Hopefully when he returns where he will be eased in he comes on for players that are playing in the CAM position

Not the Lo Celso -> Ndombele Swap.
I want to see both on the pitch together.

People that don't rate Gio have no idea what they're on about.

People comparing him to Eriksen, Dembele etc... they're all different players.

Se he might not offer the set piece quality of Eriksen (yet to see him try tbh), but how many times did Eriksen travel 40-50 yards with the ball, past 3 or 4 defenders?

He's probably scored more than Dembele managed in his whole time with us....

just pointless comparing. Anyone can look good/bad with certain stats.

It takes a simple understanding of football to see that he is one of our best players and will be very important for us.
