Management Where do we go from here?

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

It always makes me laugh or despair when people think we are so brilliant one day and in need of radical surgery the next.

My concern about the Mourinho tenure more than Mourinho himself is that he is going to leave us with nothing to build on.

There’s been very few days when we’ve been brilliant over the last 2 years. We’ve lost 27 of our last 78 league games. That’s a defeat more than 1 in 3 games.

And if the entitlement from Spurs fans is bad now it will be even more insufferable then. One loss and the banners will unfurl.
I don’t think Spurs fans are entitled man. The manager has had about one year and a half to sort a messy situation and make some progress. I just can’t see any in terms of how we play and the results we get. If I remember correctly we had a couple of games in Poch last few weeks where we thought we’d have the old Spurs back, I think Red Star at home was a particular highlight, only to fall flat on our arses against Brighton the next game. Now we’re beating Burnley and Palace only to fail miserably against the scum.

100%, what new coaching tactics has jose brought to the table? For £15M/yr I see no new tactics , free kicks , corners etc nothing. Players making off the ball runs, movement , great passing, what has he done on any part of our game isince his been here. Son scored a world v goons in the home game but that isn’t and hasn’t happened since. The whole game plane relies on some great individual moments from Kane or Son and laterally bale or lamela/Lucas.
I see no progress in our play since his been here. His earnt the easiest £15m his ever gonna get by not actually having to work hard as it’s just bodies in our penalty box not marking anyone and see what happens if the ball breaks loose. Look at our defensive setup it’s not as if we are even tight at the back and close down space and mark players. Number of games this season where the oppo finds their players in our box with no one near them. Basically we arnt a very well coached team either in attack or in defence.

Let’s get rid of Mourinho first, and let the next manager decide on the players.

We really are done with him, no victories against a top half team since November is just laughable. Some may argue with this squad but not good enough to beat a top half team at least once?

That‘s a fookin joke.
Err I really don't want to see

Dier , Sissoko , Davies , Winks and others get a 1000th chance under a new manager again..

Let's let Jose get rid of all these players in the summer and then sack him before the season starts.

Where do we go.....hard question.... so what would I do ?
Firstly, I’d want a board level decision about what we actually are. A winning team or a nostalgia act that’s sort of decent but a bit soft ? Strategic direction. It’s hardly an untried ethos. Honestly, these last few years what the fuck are we all about ?

Twenty years is enough. Thank you and good bye and Levy gone from all Football related business. The man is not a winner of anything except the tag of debt.

There has to be a decision made to invest in players. i.e do not rely solely on player sales to generate money. And transfer decisions cannot be left to a man on record as saying he hates transfer windows. So goodbye Steve Hitchins.

Be sensible and know when to sell (failed to do this before and it’s cost us)

Time to say goodbye to Son, Lloris, Toby, Winks, Sissoko & Lucas. And release Bale.

Assuming others circumstances work in our favour buy the following - De Gea or Henderson, Boly, Lampty, Berger, Loftus-Cheek, Harrison Reed & well.....someone to replace Son if we assume Berjwin is not stepping up. These are proven Premier League players who should be able to step up or solidify our squad depth.

I am not sure on sacking Jose. I really am not. Everything screams of Sugar & Graham era desperation and something is wrong, but while Levy is there I can’t hold Jose to account. If he was to be sacked and Levy stay I would feel a bit like “what’s the point?” So I would move Levy before Jose or move them both on.

if Jose is to go then I am picking Nuno Santos as his replacement. Bringing in Neves too would be a nice bonus to replace Winks or Sissoko.

Big changes are necessary this summer whatever way but if they dick around until September and leave us short again it’s simply Groundhog Day again.

This team has talent but I question the on field leadership. We've got a bunch of good lads but no one that really has that psychotic competitive drive other than maybe Lamela. Kane/Son/Hugo are not that type of personality. PEH looked like he was going to be that person but I don't think he has the star quality to really be that kind of leader.

What we really need is a larger than life player and personality that'll take the onus on them to drive this team forward when we're struggling (a la Ronaldo, Zlatan, etc)

This Spurs fans been entitled is a load of nonsense. Any ambitious club with a history like ours should have a certain sense of entitlement and expectation.

We were the first club to win a double in the 20th century, the first English club to win a European trophy. When you tally up the total trophy haul of the 3 domestic trophies and the 3 European trophies, we were the second most successful club in England after Liverpool with 13 trophies in the post war period from 1946/47 all the way up to 1991/92, when Man U overtook us. We’ve won 3 trophies in 37 years since 1984.

Quite apart from trophies, we were a club that always had a well earned reputation for stylish football even through not so good times. The utter dross that Mourinho has served up over the last 16 months is an affront to our history and tradition.

Fair enough we were weak in certain positions, but with the attacking talent we have at our disposal, we have better players oversell than the likes of Leicester, Everton and Spammers and our £15 million a year managerial guru should be able to serve up some stylish football that comfortably sees us in the Top 4.

If Nagelsmann is actually an option, unless the unthinkable happens with Mourinho - which means a drastic change in our style of play - then it's clear he goes and Nagelsmann comes in. We rebuild with Europe's best young manager. Get rid of some of the old guard and let him get some youthful energy into the team.

Pray Kane and Son will stick around for another 3 years. If not, you thank them for their service, get a pretty penny and invest in young talent ala Poch era beginnings.

It's pretty much EL or bust at this point. We might only be 3 points off 5th, but having all of Spam, Pool and Everton underperform us on the run in feels very unlikely, and especially because we are playing so unambitiously under Jose.

Even if we win the EL we should get rid of Jose. Levy wouldn't want to if we did win it though. I think only Kane threatening to leave would force Levy to ditch Mou, but I am not sure Kane will trust Levy with the rest of his career enough to make an issue of it while also trying to make an exit.

Anyways, rebuild incoming in pretty much any other scenario except EL win, and that would be miraculous based on our current form. Levy is a peice of shit for putting us in the position where we might have to watch Kane or Son's final games for the club sitting back and parking the bus playing for a tactical neanderthal.

Out of curiosity, what is everyone expecting from Spurs?

This season, City are the only team that have run away with it (and they even had a bad start). Everyone else has struggled. If we win our game in hand, we are 8 points behind second place United; with 27 points to play for.

This is what is to be expected in a competitive league. This isn't Spain or France where we will play farmers most weeks. Everton, West Ham, Leicester have made a massive investment and have great squads. Leeds/Wolves/Villa also are not going to be a push over for any team.

Personally I think it is great that the playing field has levelled somewhat.

Do I think we could of played better? Yes. But I do believe that Jose know's the weak aspects of the squad and we will likely improve on those areas.

Whilst having had a few good games, Ndombele has been unable to live up to the expectations and it is understandable that the club cannot be expected to invest in another 'world class' player to rotate in that position. As a result our midfield is unable to effectively support the defence and transition to attack.

Where do we go from here? Get a refund on Ndombele. Buy a genuine b2b midfielder; get Lo Celso fit and sign a right back and experienced center back. Our current attack certainly has 1 more season in it.
