Manager Jose Mourinho

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

At this point, it’s just time to cut bait with José. Recognize it didn’t work for a myriad of reasons, get a project manager and go again. It’d be nice to be optimistic going into matches again. And he made Son sad, which just can’t be tolerated.

I was so hopeful when we signed Jose.

I backed him to deliver us success in his first full year, but seeing the body language of the players in the 2nd half against Manure, suggests to me he has to go.

I don't think he is alone in blame, by the way. We are carrying a few players that should go as well.

As a supporter, I haven't felt so disillusioned in many years.

Emphasis what both bus-conductor bus-conductor and I have said previously.
No movement and no options for the player on the ball from anyone

It has been a problem for a while and exacerbated during Mourinho’s time with us. It used to drive me made when watching us live (as it’s more noticeable than on tv) with the players just standing around in attack.

I used to put it down to players be lazy but I think it is them not wanting to take risks, which obviously isn’t allowed at all under Mourinho.

Jose is part of the problem - rest of the blame lies with Levysnake and the ongoing lack of investment leaving us with a bloated squad of bottom-table cloggers and losers on fat contracts and zero ambition

Fuckinell. Most of these need to be sold or driven to the wrong stadium every week! Definitely shouldn’t be playing for Spurs. What’s Aurier playing at there??
It’s clearly an instruction to not push on!! It was exactly the same from Reggie on the other side, in fact Reg barely ventured into oppo half all game, where as Aurier did, see their heat maps for confirmation.

It’s why calling out players is pointless under the Dinosaur. He has us playing this way.

Look at the fucking state of that.

It's far from the first time I've seen that this season. It's Sunday League levels of commitment.

I know I'm repeating myself but that is the reason I'm done watching us this season. I can abide by a shit team full of shit players, getting beat every week if they're giving it their all but some of these are an absolute embarrassment.
It’s an instruction by the manager not to over commit, Reggie was exactly the same (even more so and barely crossed the halfway line)! This is a managerial tactic. Not a player one.

Maybe.

I think the absolute minimum you can expect is that players aren’t just walking when we’ve got the ball under pressure though. It’s so basic, showing for the ball - I would argue it’s just an attitude thing, nobody is coaching them to do that.

So what do people think the Mourinho out is polling with fans. I just looked on Spurs community and most the people who were arguing for Mourinho before the Newcastle game are Mourinho out now. I reckon if you polled the fan base it would probably be above 90% want him out
I did a mini poll on my Twitter, with 112 votes.
87% in favour of Jose out.

Then I got a message that someone had clicked IN by mistake, should be OUT.

As you say this pre-dated Jose. Under Poch we often struggled to break teams down because our movement was so poor. Very frustrating.

If he's instructed to sit back where should he sprint to?
This is a complete reach. No manager instructs players to walk around out of position while you are trying to build from the back.

Even if he was instructed to stay in his half he should be sprinting out wide to make the pitch bigger and provide an option for PEH.

Don't let your hate of Mourinho blind you to terrible pieces of play from our players.

Sissoko was fucking shite when we bought him and for a long time after, then he played a worldie of a half-season and then turned to shit again. I can't remember if that 'handball' at the start of the CL final was during his purple patch or not, but I think it was the tail-end.

Winks had a good game against Madrid and we should have sold or committed to him (though I don't think the extra game time would have helped, if I'm honest, he always seemed to be fairly uninspiring).

Dele is a sulker, our new manager* will get a tune out of him, I'm sure.

* :avbpray:
I remember the fans reclying Dembele's song for Sissoko away at Palace when he went from 2 left feet to a tank version of Messi for a while.
Frustrating knowing he CAN be a good player who does add to the team.
He just rarely does and now isn't even being used to the best of his very limited abilities.

From my seat at the Madrid game, Kane, Eriksen and Dele were the stand out performers. As usual with Winks, easy passes galore.

I wouldn't say no to Bielsa, seems like he fits the philosophy of the club for sure and has done an amazing job with Leeds. We'd be back to being the best team to watch in the league I reckon
Leeds United have an average squad age of 27 but if you drill down to the players they have used, their average age is 22
Spurs average age of players used is 24, which is lower than I expected but still higher than Leeds, as expected,

For us to play Bielsa ball, we would need players who can run and run and run.
Can you see TND, PEH, Kane, Son doing it for 90 minutes?
We clearly can't play 90 minutes of football as we relenetlessly throw away points in the last 10-15 minutes.

For us to get Bielsa, we would need to ditch most players over 27/28 and get kids in.
Sure those kids will be full throttle for 2-3 years and some stars will be born.
They'll win fuck all as they have no experience.
But as they get older, they won't be able to run so as they get experienced, they'll have to change their style to suit their bodies limits.
This change won't suit Bielsa ball.
We'll then need to sack Bielsa because he can't get what he wants out of the 27/28 year olds, or we'll need to sell the now superstar 27/28 year olds and buy a load of 21/22 year olds.
And those 21/22 year olds have no experience but we'll play well and win fuck all and on and on and on

Did Poch Murder your parents or something your hate for him is weird.
I don’t hate him at all
Strange thing to say?

Other posts I’ve made on here acknowledge that under him we were the best side in the PL for over two years and I also stated that our first XV at the couldn’t be improved by any additions from other PL teams

All good but as I say you don’t get trophies for that and I’m just being honest

If you’re one of these Poch Fanbois yearning for his return and choosing to forget the last 8 months of his tenure and the disaster of the CL final then I can’t help you

Poch didn't leave his bedroom after the CL final. The players ran to Levy having a cry about him and got him sacked.

They are doing it again it seems.

I actually don't think the problem are the players personally. Spoilt brats half of them. It is the scouting strategy and transfer policy of upper management. It isn't a football club so much as a business and when Jose fucks off the next manager will face the same problems as Poch did.

Perhaps Levy will be more diligent in the contract terms when it comes to sacking the next one. Anything to avoid a painful rebuild I guess. For 3M nicker a year I'd avoid it too.
Let's be totally honest.
We got lucky that Kane was what he was.
We got lucky that Dele, at £5m was one of the best players in the world for 2 years
We got lucky that out of 5 years or so, 2 of them, Eriksen looked a good player
We got lucky that we had Rose and Walker as younger lads in a back 4 with Toby and Jan. The only one of those brought in under Poch was toby. Yes, the others got better, but who would we have brought in if we didn't already have them?

Poch oversaw the biggest period of improvement in THFC since we went down the pan in 91/92
But he hit the jackpot with some of the players he was given to work with.
