Holy crap I am not overly excited about the prospect of this competition but the complaining about football in general in this thread is shocking.

I am surprised at how much many people seem to hate football but still want to come and post about it on a message board. I would have thought people would move on if they don't like it that much.
Because a lot of it is force of habit, you can still care about Tottenham but hate the way the game has gone. But like anything there comes a tipping point.

Everyone here will still follow Spurs if we quit the PL and joined a ESL, and you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
You can fall out of love, you know.

We've just watched our girlfriend quit her job and the gym and take up daytime TV and KFC full-time for the past 2 years. And now they tell us they're thinking of signing up for a pyramid scheme of perfume sales.

It's not me, it's you.

Yeah I have mixed feelings.

I would prefer this farce not to happen at all, but if it does then I’d rather be in the big boys members club.

If it means we get £500 million and West Ham get £50 then I’m all for it

The more I think about it the more I'm in favour because:

The combination of the pandemic and Mourinho have been a disaster for us, it could take several years to get back to where we were, making it very difficult to hold on to the likes of Kane. Those problems are solved in an instant and with the new stadium built we're well placed to benefit from this more than most.

I don't think any PL teams would have considered this without Covid but it's taken hundreds of millions out of their coffers.

Daniel Levy said that the spending in the game is not sustainable. That was before COVID.

Reading reports about football clubs worrying about the next generation of fans having the same desire to pump money into the game means a solution like this is the only way forward. Or something like it in the future.

We pay our top players £200k a WEEK. A WEEK!!!
And yet some fans are only just putting 2+2 together that the game is all about money??

Not sure where this will all lead but these big clubs are sure to be hurting financially right now.

That's short-term thinking though. Plus I expect the prize money for actually going far let alone winning it will be enormous and create a league within a league as at the start we would be pretty dire and have no chance of going far.

Some on here have bemoaned CL seasons and would've preferred a LC or FA Cup to CL qualification. This way we truly will never win another trophy ever again!

It's bollocks mate.
