Can you imagine. Levy flirts with Conte in the media knowing full well he wasn’t signing him and doing all this just before the season ticket renewal deadline ends. Gets everyone to renew their tickets, then the usual “we tried” scenario. Up steps Roberto Martinez. Surely the fans would revolt ?
We have a lot of stupid fans & fans that are gluttons for punishment . I bet a shit load of people decided to renew based off the poch & conte rumours , people are forever fooled by Enic's lies and that's why they continue to operate in this way

They know they can get away with it. Look at how many fuck ups there have been over the last few years and yet the recent protest was about 50 people outside the ground with cheap banners

I probably would never set foot in that stadium again whilst Levy and Co are in charge if they purposely messed this up to get fans to renew. It’s just gathering pace and has the hallmarks of the usual Levy “we tried” moment, only for us to end up with a cheapo option in Graham Potter. We are just so fucking small time as a club. Conte is there with no club on a plate, yet we are the only top club on the planet finding it impossible to convince him.

I’d be shit scared if Paratici rocked up. No one in their right mind would offer Aaron Ramsey £400k a week

I concur. Not been impressed with some of the business (players & coaches) Juve have done last few years, and there may well be a reason they’ve not renewed his contract.

I’m wondering if the Paratici thing isn’t linked to Conte one way round or the other.

I'm not particularly enamoured with the idea of Conte either. I know he's a great manager who can get the job done, I just don't think he's a compatible fit for us right now.

I would like us to have a complete reboot.

Seems bizarre to me that Levy is trying to bring in a DOF/sporting director, and Rangnick isn’t first name on the list. The profile of project Rangnick has overseen at RB - installing a footballing philosophy and overseeing the recruitment of coaches, players and recruitment people, on reasonable budgets, added to the fact that he’s lived in the U.K. previously, screams perfect to me.

I would much rather we went down the Rangnick/young progressive coach project reboot route - gave our club some kind of identity and stuck to it for years to come (ie Ajax, Dortmund, RB type profile) than we lurch from ill-fitting big name manager to ill-fitting big name manager.

People don’t renew on the basis of who might or might not be manager. If they do they are fucking idiots and probably the ones who add to the shit atmosphere at the stadium. Fair weather fans.

On Conte, he might not come but there is no way he sat down for one second to negotiate coming without knowing we don’t have the money of Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd. He doesn’t seem like an idiot but if he did think that then he bloody well is one.

Fantastic post and i feel exactly the same. Sooner we accept we'd be better off trying to be similar to the likes of Dortmund rather than the Aldi version of Chelsea the better. Most fans agreed we needed a complete rebuild and now Conte is supposedly coming we're seeing Ben Davies and Matt Doherty cropping up in line ups. What we need is a 2004 Arnesen/Jol 'start afresh' moment not more papering over cracks with short term fixes, both managerial and player wise.

I think thats pretty obviously the case, to be honest.

Put it this way, if we werent after Conte - who thinks we'd be after Paratuci anyway?

I think this is a very clear signal from Levy he is looking to move away from the football side and give autonomy to the football people. And, hopefully, its a means of pacating Conte and preventing the seemingly inevitable fall out with the board he ends up with...
