We have a max of 13 games in ECL, 6 in FA Cup, 5 in EFL Cup.

We should go deep in ECL, and one of EFL/ FA. So there's potential for him to start around 15 Cup games.

In the PL, Aurier wants to leave, and Tomiyasu may take a while to adjust to PL. Tanganga would be preferred to Doherty in games where the LW is pacy. So he should get around 5 starts in the PL too.

That's an estimated 20 starts this season, and he'd be able to use apparently the best facilities in the world to do Nuno's high intensity training. Surely that's quite a good situation for a youngster?
Maybe. But he's a 22 year old we'd be playing mostly at RB who sees himself as a centre back. I just don't think 15-20 starts at right back mostly against crap ECL teams does much to help him learn about the positioning, decision making and ball use that he needs to develop to be a worthwhile CB for us. Next summer he'll be 23 going 24 and we could be in the same position with him. If we looked to be playing three CB's this year I'd see the situation differently.

Last summer Juventus saw Romero as a dispensable player more or less, loaned him out with an option to buy of 16m. Now he's valued at 50m, Serie A defender of the year and Copa America winner. Starting games week in week out is so important for a player to develop and show his worth.

That's a fair point. I'd start him at CB in the ECL. Are ECL games worse quality than Turkish league? I'm not sure he'd get guaranteed starts for any PL side.

Also a downside of letting Tanganga out on loan is that we can't sell Sanchez & Dier. Selling both of them could raise the cash to get Romero and a decent partner alongside him.

It's annoying that we had two top class RBs and we sold them both, one to City, the other looks United bound now. To be fair I thought Aurier was okay going forward and think in a 3-5-2 type system he'd be okay. Docherty might be okay as a stand in under Nuno but yeah we need a proper RB. We seem to be running out of time for that and maybe we'll have to make do with Docherty until the next window (unless there are undisclosed negotiations occurring).

IMO a RB and CB x2 is more important for us than Bryan Gil or a stand in GK. Not that I don't welcome them but it's not long until the season starts now, and we're still weak (or even weaker than we were, without Toby) in defence.
Yeah, selling Trippier has ended up a dumb move. Buying Doherty and thinking he could play right back was a dumb move. Selling Foyth was probably a dumb move when you see what we're left with, even though he's a flawed player, a more refined but less attacking Aurier in ways.

I think we'll bring in Tomiyasu. Watching him play more I can see why Paratici would like him, he'll be a good option at RB and CB. Then maybe look to bring in a more attacking RB option next summer when hopefully there's more of them in the market and we have Europa/CL to offer players.

Don't watch Turkish league so I don't know really. Some of the teams we face in ECL will be on par with league one sides.

Championship loan starting at CB would be great for him and better than being a squad member for us imo. A loan to Brighton, Crystal Palace or Norwich could work, but you'd want some assurances that they plan to start him plenty.

If any fans complain if we play 'one of our own' promising youngsters in cup games, they need to STFU.

Hahaha.... Indeed. Bet they won't though.

You're probably both right. Does he count as homegrown in Portuguese league? How about we send him on loan with obligation to buy somewhere? Let's get creative, but get rid of him, and even £10M etc. brought in for him is money that can be spelt elsewhere.

Logically, yes he should be P-HG.

Wages a big obstacle over there though.

That said, we paid 4m for him year ago now...... Fair to say we've had our money's worth. For us to take a 10m fee and use that to pay off his contract wouldn't exactly be a hit we couldn't swallow.

TalkSport are utter shite, don't listen to a word they say.
If you want updates from a guy who seems close to the Vlahovic to Spurs deal, follow Mike McGrath on twitter.

Like all this crap, I take it with a pinch of salt. It was all very 'matter of fact' that's all......

Yeah, selling Trippier has ended up a dumb move.

He had a shit season, but Poch freezing him out (KTs words; not mine!) was still a really baffling way to go.....

Esp. as he clearly had no faith in KWP and 'Project Foyth' was a gamble on a player that was struggling to stay fit.

FFWD a few months and he's playing Sanchez at RB in a NLD.

Not good.

I don't want to bring you down on this cold and miserable day but if you are waiting for Dier to be transferred you will have a very long wait.

Dumb, dumber and dumbest.

Sounds like a load of bollocks from that guy. Skipp is just coming into his prime, was the best DM in the championship at Norwich and could go onto be one of the best DM’s in the league while we have no backup for Hojbjerg.

If we are selling/sold Sanchez, Dier, Toby going to be fucking light at the back even with 2 new CB’s so why would be loaning Tanganga unless we are buying 3 CB’s or heaven forbid we are keeping Sanchez and Dier.
The way this is worded, it sounds like if we can't offload Winks/Sissoko then we will loan Skipp because there will be too many CMs.

I hate this sort squad management logic (can loan Skipp, can't offload others). Who cares if Sissoko and Winks are at the club and what their wages are? If Skipp is better and ready, play him.

I do think Tanganga will go out on a loan though just to ensure he gets regular minutes.
