Skipp likely better than Winkssoko so one area that we improved but likely not in the starting 11.

Bale being gone is a big issue we have yet to fill and have zero credible links that we will fill.

The BS strawman "this isn't FM" argument that not a single person is angling for is garbage. Nobody said we need 4 world class players. We need clear improvements, improvements that other clubs make and have used to pass us recently.

Going into another season hoping that we get the absolute best out of players is a terrible way to go. We have repeatedly seen the results of that before. Nuno has shown nothing to indicate that he will have more success in attack than Jose. His whole time at Wovles was a similar sit back and hope individual talent can save you from having zero plan in attack that Jose used.

Okay fine as of RIGHT NOW this second we have a weaker squad.

On the assumption we sign Romero and Tomiyasu before the season starts (which seems likely) we will have a better squad. Make sense?

And please tell me who are these CBs and RWs we can buy for peanuts that are way better than Lucas and Rodon?

This is a better XI than last season. Skipp and Dele could also be in that midfield as we still don't know if GLC and Ndombele can work together.

If we can somehow sign a defender for 15-20m who is better than Rodon and an attacker for the same amount who is better than Lucas great but I am doubtful we can.

That team is a 8th-10th place team if Kane and Son can repilciate their amazing seasons last year, if not yikes.

Why do you always have to shift the argument to made up strawmen to make your point?

I have used Matheus Periera as an example. He is rumoured for 15-20m. He is a natural RW, much better goal scorer than either player with PL experience.

Caleta-Car is rumoured for 15-20m, Experience playing on the left side of a back 4 and back 3. Good for Marseille last year, good on the ball, would fit nicely with how Romero plays as well. Not sure if he is available but Ben Godfrey looks like he is 3rd or 4th choice at Everton he would be someone I would look at. Once again plays on the left side, young, HG, good on the ball, shouldn't cost too much.

If your argument is actually that we can't improve on Lucas and Rodon then I guess we are the midtable club that we will likely finish with them starting.
 
I didn’t watch much of Atalanta last year, did anyone else? And if so, is Romero actually any good?

I’ve read lots of frothing about this deal, but no cunt has actually really described what this guy is about and if he’s worth 50m smelladeenies?

Its not an upgrade at RB and a massive downgrade at RW and teams around us have passed us.

Last year we also had elite seasons from Son and Kane with no guarantee that will repeat and were lucky on the injury front.

Sounds very good and young enough to improve further.

I'm most interested to find out if he can martial the rest of the backline though....

Nothing to suggest Caleta-Car would be an upgrade on Rodon - a pure punt.

I never said we can't upgrade Lucas or Rodon I said I doubt we can for 15-20m. They are at that level.

We likely need to spend 30m in each position for a "guaranteed" upgrade and we cant do that. We are not spending 130m this summer without selling Kane.

Caleta-Car is a no doubt better player than Rodon. He has played better at higher levels than Rodon has. Is left sided which we need and unlike Rodon good with the ball at his feet.

Aurier and Doherty are better than Tomiyasu?

Bale showed up for 30% of the season so it's not a massive downgrade. Plus he only scored against weaker teams and a Leicester team on holiday. He couldn't be trusted against any decent opposition.

Everton paid 20m for BG last summer and is well thought of there.... No way they sell him.
