I don't see the "issues" with the rest of the team to be honest, they will understand exactly where he is coming from. He has never even met the coaching staff.

If Kane WASN'T due back, the Club would have said so, or Kane's media would have said so, or both. We would have been told. Businesses are petrified of uncertainty.
A lot of stuff has been frantically flapping and flying around behind the scenes, while all parties attempt to glide serenely onwards as though nothing is happening.
The timing of Kane's statement confirms all this, without actually saying it.
What I hate most about the ill-judged statement is the attempt to make the loyal fans feel bad.
Edit: UNLESS there is something very serious happening in Kane's personal (non-football) life. If that were to be the case I may apologise most humbly to him.
