The reason a lot of players potentially available now might not be in a year is the effect of Covid. It appears most of Europe are struggling including Inter, Juve, Milan, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern... Give it a year of crowds back in the grounds and those teams will be back at the table outgunning us.
And in a post covid world, we are a money making machine.

Its also not as if Kane will go for free next summer, is it? We'll still get a major windfall from him and be able to invest heavily.

Yes, right now is something of an opportune time, but like much of your argument here its quite myopic.

Not to say its "wrong" or the logic isnt sound, it is, but its not the only valid line of thought...

If we replace Kane with Watkins or Toney you might as well throw in the towel now. I've seen some dogshit recruitment over the years but that would take the biscuit

Completely agree and it’s something you could just see the bald one doing can’t you ? Sell Harry Kane on the last day and scramble around trying to sign Vlahovic or Martinez, then when it falls through, add Ivan Tony or Braithwaite to the mix in desperation. Our very own Frazier Campbell. Wouldn’t it put it passed Levy

City - Grealish
Chelsea - Lukaku
United- Varane, Sancho
Leicester - 3 of 4?
Villa doing good business
Even the scum have brought a few in in trying for others

Our business so far barely keeps us at the level we were.
I don't believe we have improved at all in fact.
The scum have done less business than us!
City chelsea bought 1 player both for 100 mil.
Liverpool 1 player.
Villa have bought a lot of players in my opinion only ings was decent business. Only proven player.
I will give you leicester have done good business in fairness they always do

This kills me. It never works out like that though … through whatever reason he always falls into too many minutes of important premier league minutes

there is no reason to have a player that bad In the squad …. Top 4 clubs have far better options for lesser fixtures

Do they though? I'm not so sure.

Unless you are City or Chelsea who have a back-up squad happy to take their coin and not play how do you keep top players happy? It's down to luck and injuries.

Look at Liverpool without VVD, way off the title with no suitable back-up. Lots of seasons are defined by an injury to a key player.

So Winks, sure I don't really see him playing 90mins Premiership games but 20mins seeing stuff out or in Europe and cups I see him having a place.

It's funny how Dele is cut slack because various mangers have screwed with his game but other players aren't afforded the same luxury. Poch and Winks were super close, I can imagine Poch leaving really impacted him.

If he goes I say thanks Winksy you've never failed to give your all, if he stays I hope he improves and contributes to the team.

We cannot compare ourselves to others. We have a lot of rebuilding to do.

Agree 100%, would love him.

I know, Soton are forever selling off their star players, but Ings and Ward-Prowse in the same window, now that there a pretty established PL side has got to feel like a real kick in the balls :bergwijnconfused:
They could go down this season.
They have Che Adams and old man Shane Long up front and it looks like Vestergaard and Ward-Prowse could be on their way.

What I'm trying to say is we shouldn't be held up on a number if we're missing out on any opportunities.
