Serious question here. If we sell Harry Kane at the end of the window and we scramble around for a replacement and sign Braithwaite in a last minute attempt, how would you all feel ? Would this put you over the edge with this lot in charge ?
It would be a big failure, and I’m long since over the edge, but there are other factors to consider.

If we get a bonanza last minute price for Kane and cash it in in January and next summer, such is life.

What I want is commitment to winning trophies and dedication of resources commensurate with that. Something that can only be judged over a decently long term.

The judgment of the period from ~2014 to present is one we are all rightly furious about.

Well exactly. If we were really in for Torres/Kounde and failed to get them then we are way down our list of targets. Those players are of a calibre to improve the team.

Is Milenkovic better than Dier/Sanchez/Rodon? If not why are we buying him?

Well, if we've exhausted our A list:

1 x signed
2 x said no
1 x not for sale

.....Who would be next on your list?

It's not really a "serious" question tho, is it? You've picked a near-worst case scenario (also known as a Berbatov-Campbell) and then front-loaded it with negative terms like "scramble around" and "last minute attempt"

If Kane is going to City, I don’t know why we wouldn’t be doing everything to get Bernardo Silva coming in the other direction unless he’s just not interested.

We seem to be after another winger, with Sarr and Kvaratskhelia rumored and certainly there’s no better player we could attract than Silva. He was City’s best player when they won the title in 2018/19 and he’d immediately sort out any creativity problems we had since the departure of Eriksen and the the hole Kane would leave.

I’d take 85m plus Silva from City and laugh my way to the bank. Him and Son are roughly the same age and could be the centerpieces of our attack for the next 5 years along with whatever striker we buy. Son, Lo Celso, and Silva behind the striker would be seriously tasty.

"85 million plus Silva"

You do know that City have just paid 100m for a player who can't get a start for England?

Silva would be the highest pedigree player we’ve signed this millennium, who is still in their prime (ie not Edgar Davids type).

He was on the six player shortlist for PL POY just two seasons ago. He’s a rolls Royce player, we need creativity. Won the league 5 of the last 7 season in Portugal, France, and England.

Can’t be bothered to go back and looks through, but I highly doubt we’ve ever signed a player this millennium who has made a PL team of the season, let alone shortlisted for POY. And he’s still only 26.

People seem excited for the Sarr link for 45m but wouldn’t want Silva for similar value. Boggles the mind honestly.

This is fair...... I'm just sick of reading from people that we'll be worse than last year.

Rom, Gil & Goll can all be considered upgrades on those they replaced and further moves seem on the cards.

- VVD & Henderson could well struggle.
- Wijnaldum (under-appreciated) gone.
- Thiago v.slow to adapt.
- Keita not up to snuff.
- Ox-Ch gone.

They could struggle in MF if the chips don't fall their way.

There's no particular reason why they won't struggle further...... Especially Mane.... He's a big mofo; once that freakish athleticism goes he'll fast be a shadow of the player.

Both him & Salah will be off to ACON too.

Perhaps.... The same could be said about us and our dead-wood.

(I thought Shaqiri had already gone btw?)
Front 3 of Liverpool are in danger of growing old together. Firmino nowhere near what he was, Mane poor last season.
If we have a chance of top four it is catching Liverpool if they start to struggle.
