Match Tottenham v. Manchester City (Sun Aug. 15 16:30 BST)

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We were very lucky they couldn't finish. That's ok too.

Doesn't take anything away from our performance. I guess to beat them you need a performance and some overdue fortune.
I just think they had 3 sitters

I think we had 3.

Sons goal , bergwijn and if Moura doesn’t take it off deles head that’s an open goal

pretty even …. We scored one of ours …. I don’t see huge luck certain posters mention

fairly even

Possibly. I still doubt it though. The gulf between City's salary offer and even an improved Spurs offer will run to several million pounds a year. Plus a big transfer fee cut for his brother.

I don't doubt that he may have even convinced himself its about medals. But he'll be lying to himself, as well.

Bit of both in there.... He may be telling himself it's all about the trophies, but let's be honest; if money was no concern he'd have handed in a transfer request and not dragged his image through the gutter.

I suppose that is a fair point.

Perhaps I just expected MCFC and their absurdly paid players to be more quality in front of goal, don't know. Either way, those situations are where we usually concede and games we usually lose.

:nunothumbs:

TBF, a lot of them are only here for the moaning and are massively disappointed we didn't get dicked 0-4 so they could have a go at Levy/ENIC and call Nuno a fraud champo manager.
People can be underwhelmed by our window, unhappy with our team selection today, have low expectations for the season and fucked off with ENIC and still be delighted with performance and the win today.

Why does everything have to be black and white with no shades of grey?

Its not even that, even if you are happy we won today that is not enough for some of these super, duper ultra "fans".

It always makes me laugh that some posters want to focus more on telling others how to be fans than actually care about the team.

In the car on the way home listening to TalkSHite... I know,, I know,, Anyway, some Man City "lady" rings in all disgusted at how crap they played, whining and moaning how we beat them.. Then says they really HAVE to buy Kane..

Just like spoilt little brats having a tantrum cos they haven't got what they want.. FFS woman, you just spent £100m on Grealish.. They really are a special kind of self entitled idiots that just cannot see how they have got where they are..

I heard that call...... Threw half the team under the bus...... Not fancy Jack or any of the other fancy dans though...... Just all the cheapo 50m players.....

We have Mrs Perryman Mrs Perryman ; they have that entitled big mouth ol' bat.

Can't buy class.

I had the pleasure of watching Jimmy Greaves play quite a few times & no argument from me GOAT !

My Uncle took me to see Spurs play United in 1965.

He had to put me on his shoulders so that i could see the pitch.

Though the memories are faded, i will always remember Greaves, his style, pace and the way he was swaying of his hips as he cut through that United defense.

After the game my Uncle went for a beer at a pub close to the ground (can't remember the name) and sitting around the table drinking a beer was Gilzean and Greaves (who from memory was smoking).

No one will ever replace Greaves as the best player to wear the shirt and as major a factor of success in that side as Nicholson.

To be fair, they need him worse than we do on today’s evidence. Ferran Torres as a false nine was shocking. Jesus is a nothing player. At least we have Son.

Pep is a weird guy, obviously an all time great manager but supposedly he was telling Grealish that he was their missing link to win UCL when it’s clear to any casual he’s so duplicative of what they have. No idea why they just didn’t stump up the £150m for Kane earlier in the summer.

Oh no..... The price didn't go up a-g-a-i-n, did it?

I simply can't fathom how someone could be truly attached to the club and enjoyed that victory - first match with spectators packing the stadium since covid, first match post-Jose with a proper manager, first match of the season, against the dirtiest club in the world, league champions, favourites to repeat, club that's been trying to turn our captain's head all summer - and not even savour that for 24 hours before talking utter shite, picking fights, and trying to score points on the goddamn internet.

Sorry, if you've got it in you to be negative after today you're either not Spurs or you need psychiatric assistance.
