Transfer Adama Traore

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I am taking this from the transfer thread, sorry if it was discussed here and I missed it. But there is talk that with Traore we would go to a 4-4-2.

A Traore-PEH-Skipp-Lucas/Dele MF is very poor. So weak in passing, zero creativity at all. We once again become so reliant on Kane and Son to create offense, and this year instead of having relying on Toby to ping long balls to them we rely on Traore to move the ball up to them.

Still no ability to play the ball through the MF, still no ability to control the game with ball possession. Nobody able to slow the game down and allow us time to regroup when under attack. We are going to have to play at one speed, super fast, all the time with Traore bombing up the field because we have no flexibility to change it up.

If the Traore or striker rumours are true we also have zero goal scoring threat off the bench, zero players who can unlock a defense on the bench or in the starting 11. Maybe I am missing something but that team seems like such a limited team that can only play one way and nothing else.

Who is saying we would go 442? That makes no sense. We either switch to a back 3 with Traore playing RWB or stay with the current 4231/433 with Traore sharing minutes with Lucas.

Lloris
Tanganga Romero Dier Reggie
PEH Skipp
Traore Dele Son
Kane

is my guess. Lucas and Stevie off the bench. Winks locked in the coach.

It was suggested in the Summer Transfer thread and does fit with reports of Nuno wanting to play 2 up top.

But even if we don't go to a 4-4-2 the same issues exist with a 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 the issue is that the players we have do not offer any ability to move the ball through the MF, to switch up our style of play, to control the ball with possession.

It is a squad make-up issue more than a formation issue, outside of a 3-5-2 which I think solves some of those issues, but certainly not all of them.

You have to seriously question who made this bid.

Do we as a club honestly think Wolves would just allow their most dangerous player to go out on loan to another Premier league team with an option to buy?

Paratici needs to realise this isn't serie a. You can't just loan everyone.

Also I'll say this. How did we bid 65 million for Martinez but now we are acting like we need to loan everyone and we have no money.

I don't get it.

Might as well rename us Loan with obligation to buy FC. How in the hell do we think we can go through a whole transfer window loaning players too buy? If you really like him and the manager wants him, then put an appropriate proper bid in ffs. We have money in the bank as we have barely spent anything

I don't know how reliable that journalist is but a loan deal makes zero sense for Wolves, it isn't like they want to get rid of Traore they would move him because he is at peak value and they can bring in another young Portuguese player to take his place and likely do as good a job at half the price and 4 years younger.

^^ THIS.

And if we do loan to buy or whatever then why wouldn't be able to buy a backup ST too

None of this makes sense. The strategy is very bizarre.

Moving the ball is literally the main thing Traore does. He can dribble through midfield to draw defenders and open lanes for others.

Skipp, Dele and PEH can all pass the ball. The problem is we have no outlet to take the congestion away from midfield.

The journalist is the one who first broke the Martinez deal
So tier 1/2 or whatever.

I agree. For Wolves you either want Loan with obligation to buy or permanent deal i.e. guarantee of the money eventually.

I read they are looking at Guedes. Who would cost about £20-25m. So I guess they'd replace Traore with Guedes and perhaps another player. But they definitely can't do that if they do loan with option to buy.

WHo on earth at SPurs thought that bid would ever get accepted?
