I didn’t say that we had a. ‘Good’ chance of winning with Jose but a much better chance than with Mason so Levy should have waited until after the final

There was a short period in the second half when City had ran out of ideas and we started to get some possession so an attack minded substance might have turned things so what Mason do?

He brought on Sissoko

Nuff said!

And you think Jose Mourinho would have made this change? Against Man City?

And Jose STARTED Sissoko against Zagreb. And brought him on to try and add physicality/drive to our midfield on a number of occasions. How many times did he make game making changes that won us a match during his time with us? I can't remember any.

We either took the lead early and held on, or we didn't and lost. Or we took said lead and decided to sit on it until the inevitable late goal we would concede. Jose's ability to be proactive and make key decisions had already been proven as not particularly good by the time the final rolled around.

Anyway, like I said it's just opinions. If you think Jose gave us a better chance that's fair, but I don't, hence why it's not a decision I particularly blame Levy for. Before that final I had zero hope, and when he was sacked I had zero hope.

It’s weird that we’re blaming managers for using players when there are no other players to use.
People convinced themselves Ndombele was world class etc etc

I hope they’ve realised now that 4 managers had a point.

It’s one thing bringing on Sissoko to sure up a game, and quite another to score two goals

We’ll never know will we ?

The fact remains imv that Levy ensured we wouldn’t win a trophy to save a few quid but you clearly think levy was correct

So as you say it’s about opinions

Yeah, at the end of the day we didn't have the players to bring on who could change the game/scare City late in the game. Our squad is mostly extremely mediocre, and even City on an off day (no matter the manager) can simply dominate the ball and the overwhelming likelihood is that its them who grab the goal.

Purely on the basis that I fully believe we had no more chance in that final with Jose in charge. Which neither of us can prove, because its a belief. I can say why I think that (the results we'd seen building up for a long time) and you can say why you feel otherwise. Which are fair points.

Either way I think there are far, far worse decisions that Levy has made which should be scrutinized.

We can agree on that one

Just listened to that interview with Martin Jol

Loved the big man

Jol was fantastic, but of course Levy is & was completely ruthless. I wouldn't be at all surprised if many managers simply weren't interested in us because of Levy's reputation. Why would you want to work with that?

I have heard it reported (alleged) we did approach Potter at quite an early stage of our managerial search in the summer and were knocked back. Apparently he felt if he failed and was sacked it would cock his career up. Does that say more about Graham Potter or Daniel Levy?
Or how fickle the Spurs fans are? How quickly people would have jumped on his back if he lost 3 games?

It appears Potter certainly didn’t being worried his probable sacking would affect his career

Says it all really

Sacking jose before the final is neither here or there. Issue was he put a muppet in charge. I’m sure there were plenty of coaches out their who would have come in and done the job till the end of the season like redknapp, Howe, etc. Mason came in and dump tangay and put winks straight in the final having hardly played much up that point. Mason then didn’t even give him any minutes during the remaining games. Regardless of what people think of tanguy he didn’t deserve that treatment from a rookie coach. Especially when his replacement was winks. Damm disgraceful!
The treatment of Fonseca also a disgrace. To me that is in the cunt DOF who wanted gutusso for some Reason. He must have persuaded the board that he was worth dumping someone he was about to have a contract sign for him.
Finally if we all knew we’d end up with Jose mk2 would they have taken Rafa for two years. His not my cup of tea but generally not much diff in playing style but far more experienced and better at organising teams. Plus has a winners mentality compared to Nuno. He might have steadied the ship and then we could build again in a couple of years down the line.

Whilst I certainly agree that we’ve acted like utter tools, I still think we’re a very attractive gig for loads of managers. Oddly enough, I think we’d have no problem attracting high profile names as Levy pays managers well and they couldn’t care less if they get sacked 12 months down the line; all part of the game.

We *will* struggle with the likes of Potter. A manager that wants to mould a club for a footballing generation, so to speak.

Our basic problem is that Levy wants us to act like a massive club, will pay mega manger wages, but wants nothing to do with massive transfer fees. At that point, he wants to use the academy and do it on the cheap. The two models are incompatible.

That said, reasonably confident that Rodgers will be our next manager.
The moment Brenda gets canned Levy will be calling him. Guaranteed.
