On the evidence we have I'd have to agree, but it's blurred a little by the fact that we don't know how much was him wanting these players and how much was them just being the best of the bunch that was offered to him.

As it is written in his book, he was offered Sissoko and agreed to the signing, we don't know what the alternatives were at the point that he approved it, if any. Seems to me Sissoko was a case of might as well have him than not.

We also loosely know what happened when Poch decided not to compromise on what he wanted, we ended up with nobody.
Yep. He wanted Mane or Zaha that window. It was clearly Sissoko with 5 minutes of the window left or no one. I guess he leant his lesson and then didnt want some 5th choice when we couldnt get the likes of De Jong or Grealish. I dont think spotting players was a strong point but our last good window was summer 2015. We've had 4 windows since Poch left and its still shite so clearly the problem is elsewhere. If only there was 1 common denominator we could pin this on?

Feel sorry for him, he's obviously not up to the job but has been hung out to dry by our chairman.

I'm convinced that Levy was banking on Poch being sacked by now.

It’s currently Nuno or Ryan Mason at this point. My view is he is waiting for Poch as well, getting youngsters like Gil then Sarr who won’t even be here till next season in the window while leaving midfield and attack short and giving Nuno a 2 year deal only. Only makes sense if he is banking on another manager coming which would almost certainly be Poch, that or Levy is just a fucking tool.

Levy was 100% banking on Poch getting canned at PSG.

Nuno has had a rough ride from the word go, even if he hasn't made the best of it I think that most can agree on that he he's had the deck stacked against him.

He was signed because we had 1 week to go until pre season and we completely fucked up the hiring process. He was hired because Paratici had to hire a guy on short notice because we couldn't get someone in the door before Paratici started.

People letting reminiscence cloud their judgement about Pochettino.
What 2nd,3rd ,4th, a champions league final? I didnt agree with him on a few things like not loaning youngsters, some of his player choices were iffy, not giving the FA cup a bit more of a go etc He wasnt perfect but the best manager we've had since Burkinshaw and a fuck sight better than the 2 dull clowns we've seen since.

We have had 3 good managers in my lifetime Jol, Redknapp and Poch the rest have been mediocre to shit. Also why does this club hire defensive managers at all, match day going fans hate them and goes against our history, it’s surprises me as it’s actually a cheap fix to have a vision and hire progressive attacking managers, far cheaper than big signings. Shows how little Levy understands Tottenham as a football entity.

Agree. It amazes me how someone who has run a top level club for 20 years can know so little about football and the club he runs. The other names on the shortlist in November 19 were Naglesmann and Rodgers. Biggest mistake Levy made was not backing Poch, 2nd biggest was not appointing either of those. He then repeats the trick again this year. Buffoon.

Accountant businessman good at business and figures but knows fuck all about football SHOCKER!

I don't want Pochettino back, not till ENIC are vanquished and he has a fresh squad to work with and some people in charge of the club who have a little bit of ambition and aren't intent on just squeezing everything they can out of a manager.

But the absolute lack of a respect for a man who had us top 4 basically every season, cup semi's on the regular, a champions league final, football constantly on the front foot where fans could be excited to watch every single match, is incredible. He accomplished all this with seasons where we spent nothing, then declared we needed a rebuild and Levy chucked him a small bone after years of no investment. Fuck off.

It felt it at the time, and maybe it was, but nobody that's followed in his footsteps has performed demonstrably better than we can say Poch would have had he been given more time/funds to steady the ship and rebuild.

I'm not about to argue that keeping him on would have been a sure thing, but with hindsight I strongly doubt we'd be in a worse position than we are now. At the very least he wanted to see us entertained.

Maybe, but then again we weren't to know Levy would utterly fuck it up as much as he has with the subsequent appointments. I'm struggling to think of another top coach that would be willing to come in and sort us out, whilst also deal with Levy.
