Manager Antonio Conte

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Contes tactics are more progressive when he isn’t deploying Nuno Ball.
When he deploys Nuno Ball, we are as progressive as we were under Nuno.

"In the second half we tried to manage the Covid situation. Many players who had Covid played today and the levels dropped. I had to make lots of substitutions.”

This is why he made the changes. It delights me he felt the need to clarify why he did that, because it was shite.
Im ok with it, but it was still shite.

The players also saw out games under Nuno and Jose, and we looked just as rubbish “seeing out the game”.
Wanting to play for Conte doesn’t make Nuno’s tactics any different, what made it different was the fact he deployed it for 90 minutes.
Your whole original point which I was trying to debate was that you didn’t like the subs he made, fair play youve said you understood why he made them, but to say he won’t do them again when he has his own squad etc is short sighted. He will do what he thinks he needs to win a game, and can be just as defensive as Nuno, which he has shown many times

Anyway merry xmas pal, hope all is well in Sweden

'In the time he has been here, we have opened ourselves up to his ideas to find out his philosophy, the way he works, the way he wants everything done, detail by detail.

'To the strikers H (Kane), Sonny, Lucas (Moura) or Stevie (Bergwijn), he says: 'I want this from you, and then with the quality you have, you can play with the freedom you have always had.

'With us defenders, it is different because it is up to us to close the doors on the pitch. In my position, you need to everything almost perfectly in every game in order to avoid conceding goals or chances. That is why he has explained everything to us, detail by detail, to make it very clear. The concepts are not difficult to get, and when you are open to ideas, it is easier for them (the coaches) and for us.'

'At the moment we are building. In this period we didn't play Burnley, Rennes, Brighton and Leicester, we've worked in training on the way we are pressing, our movements at the back, the strikers' and midfielders' positions. He is going deeper into what he wants, and the results are doing his talking. He has shown in the past what he can do, he is a world-class manager, and for us it is a start.'

He really is the maestro right now. It may be a rollercoaster, & it may end in tears down the line, but he’s already getting a tune out of a squad that needs an overhaul when others couldn’t. I just hope that we make the right moves in the next couple of windows & he sees this for the challenge it is.
It’s easier to walk into a club with bottomless pockets and for everyone to crow about someone being a great manager.
If Conte turns our ship in the right direction during his tenure here, he’s proven he can do it on a tighter budget and for me that elevates him to legendary status.
The fact he took the challenge on is huge. The fact he’s got duds playing really well is bigger still.
If he can negotiate Levy’s short arms and deep pockets, then he really will nail it at Spurs.

Unfortunately I don't think he's magic enough to make arms grow. If he is though, Copperfield has his work cut out for him.

Very good improvements, clearly still huge amounts of work to do.
We haven’t been consistently good for a full game yet in my opinion, despite individual improvements by certain players.

Still glaring faults in them and that’s basically because most of our players won’t be any better.

It’s all very well getting giddy over Dier and Winks but both aren’t as good as they were a few years ago, so while it’s recent improvement, I’m not going to celebrate long term regression

A couple windows badly needed with Conte being fully backed on every front.
I dont want to see this team being run ragged by the likes of Leeds and then forgetting about what actually happens on the pitch because the stats look great.

Yeah but players turning up for a manager means tactics work better? I never had a massive problem with Nuno or Maureen tactics, they just couldn’t motivate the players to adhere to them properly

Conte’s tactics are far more progressive but watching any of his teams will tell you he can also take the sting out of a game and make it hard to watch

Not sure Moureen or Nuno had tactics.
Which is maybe why the players weren't motivated.
Mourinho seemed to rely on a solid defence and the opposition making mistakes. And Nuno seemed to rely on his chair being comfy while he sat on his arse looking it his watch.

Amazing how both had us top 6-7 without tactics and both beat Pep.

The tactics were clear as daylight. They were negative and boring.

Conte doing the same thing for half an hour is also negative and boring, the difference is, it isn’t his entire philosophy and he was forced to make those changes really due to Covid

It’s so weird that because people highly rated and respect Conte, they can’t bring themselves to say that last half an hour was rubbish.

The players may well want to play for Conte and understand the tactics, they were still totally shit at doing it though.

Conte is the fucking Don. Has improved every single player, it's quite amazing to see.

like that he gave gil some gametime today. this kid could be really special imo. elegant as fuck on the ball with great touch and great weight of pass etc. was picking up spots in pockets and hes being overlooked.

future is looking bright again and its enjoyable to watch us again after months of utter shite
